A friend of mine was in a wedding a couple of weeks ago, and she posted pictures on Facebook. The groom's family is from the Netherlands, and I liked some of their names. I decided to post them here (not sure on all of the pronunciations!)

Anne-Fie
Ivo
Beatta
Mireille
Caroline
Guy
Lydia

I love Mireille and Beatta. WDYT?

I actually found this on the BBC news site, but thought this was interesting... Sarah Palin has five children with the following names:

Track
Bristol
Willow
Piper
and
Trig Paxson Van Palin

As stated in the article, According to the Washington Post newspaper, Track was named after the course of the sockeye salmon the family fishes off the town of Dillingham, while her eldest daughter's name comes from Bristol Bay, an area known for its salmon fisheries. The name Willow relates to the state bird, the willow ptarmigan, and a nearby town, the paper says, while daughter Piper shares her name with the family's small plane. Trig is the Norse word for "brave victory", the Post adds.

Wow. Just wow.

I work at a call centre so I come across some interesting names sometimes...

today I had a caller named Ayrieka- I had no idea on earth how i would say that...*headdesk* It was Erica... honestly do you really need ten extra letters to make your name 'different'?

Also I had a caller who's name was Precious...I must admit I had trouble using her name during the call, every time I said it I wanted to laugh...I felt as if I was talking to a little child... my co-worker joked one of us should name a child Sweetheart. Ugh.

Also some more interesting ones I've come across that are more names than misspellings:

Africa
Kenya
Joel (pron Joe-El-which i thought was kind of neat)
Carlisa

WDYT?

My favourite name of the week seems to be Polly, after I dreamt my sister had a girl and named her that.

WDYT?

I love it, but I don't see myself naming my kid Polly. But it's very niece-worthy!

Okay so my cousin is having a baby and she was totally planning on naming her Savannah Gabriella. Which I know, I know.. Its very popular but I was like whatever its not THAT bad, ill just call her Hannah and that will be cute.

So today she told me that she changed her mind and now she is going to name her.. But before I tell you the name, let me remind you that I live in a small town in RI where the "trendy/creative" name trend hasnt really been a problem with newborns.

But apparently it has because she is now going to name her.. Nevaeh Grace.

Omg. Shoot me now. How do I tell her nicely how bad her child's name is going to be. She was telling me how beautiful it is and she saw it online and never heard of it before.

Varie. Like Marie but with a V.

We have had a name set for our baby but out of no where he suggests using Varie for the middle name. It's not a bad name. But I'm so set on the name I have picked and I'm really not into two middle names. But maybe if we had another girl, I'd use it.
