i'm trying to think of a good middle name for a girl. we already have a boys name picked out and we used to have a girls, madison elisabeth. but its become very popular recently so i decided against it. a few days ago i came up with maelynn. although, my boyfriend doesnt like it with 2 n's so now it will be just one so, maelyn. i really love the name mae but it just seemed incomplete so i went through names in my family and liked my middle name with it! i just need a good middle name for it. i had a couple suggestions of names from my family but my boyfriend didnt seem to like any of them. they were maelyn genevieve, maelyn adeline, maelyn kelly or maelyn elisabeth...i dont really like any of them either, they're just family names and i wanted to give her a middle name from my family but i really dont like how any of those go so whatever, i guess she wont have any names from my family! anyone have any suggestions for a middle name. i want something that flows...but doesnt rhyme. i want it to easily roll off your tongue and be a little unique!! <3

I don't mean to spoil it for you, but doesn't it sound just like " mailin' " ?

Yes, like MAY-lin. Unless you're pronouncing it May-LIN

Since you liked Madison, have you considered Madelyn? You could always use Mae as a nickname!

I keep reading it with a somewhat Asian pronunciation, which I think makes it go poorly with Genevieve and Adeline. If it's just pronounced like "mailin'," then I think that's even worse. Why not just May Lynn as a first and middle name? I think May is a lovely name, but Maelyn/Maelynn just looks mispelled and sounds dull.

I love the name Mae too, but 'Maelynn' reminds me too much of mailin' (as in: mailing).
How about Madeleine? Or Maeve? Just some suggestions.

Anyway, middle names for Maelynn...

Maelynn Sofia
Maelynn Elyse
Maelynn Celine
Maelynn Cecilia
Maelynn Giselle
Maelynn Anouk

Ha we had two of the same ideas (Elyse and Adele), except I spelled it Elise. XD

Hahah. I actually think Elise is even prettier!

XD

I first spelled it Alise (I have an RP character whose mn is Alise, so that's what I default to), but changed it.

Maelyn Adele?
Maelyn Nicole?
Maelyn Elise?

Any name that flows like Marie (two syllable, accent on the second syllable) would work.

Maelyn isn't unique. It's a made up two syllable sound that fits right in with the trend..

Why not Madeleine/Madeline? You can still go with the nickname Maddie like you might have used for Madison, and it's way way way classier than Maelyn.

Madeleine Aurelia or Madeleine Aurora would be pick picks.

Fair enough, as long as you love it..
I just think those kind of names are really unoriginal and mush into one another.. there seems to be a forumla around at the moment.

For girls it's 1) take a sound (may,kay,ja,brae..etc) 2) Add a lynn/elle/lee 3) hoorah you have a name! (Maylin, Braylee, Jaella)

For boys you do the same but add an -aden (Caden, Jayden, Haiden)

You can vary the spellings for uniqueness of course.

Anyway, you see what I'm getting at!

I'd use a name with a bit of pizzaz with a name like that: Anastasia, Felicity, Alessandra..etc

I think Maelynn/Maelyn sounds pretty, but it *looks* tacky (no offense, that's just my personal opinion, and I really do like the sound of the name).

I think Maelin looks prettier.

Middle name suggestions:
Maelyn Jean
Maelyn Elizabeth
Maelyn Leona
Maelyn Christine
Maelyn Olivia
Maelyn Irene
Maelyn Juliet
Maelyn Eve

Maelyn is pretty trendy. Just the make-up of it. Nice sound (may) plus 'lyn' = trendy. It fits right in with Kaelyn, Jaylyn, Aylin, etc. So if you don't like Madison because it's too trendy, and you want something unique, I wouldn't use Maelyn...

I think all "-lyn" names look incredibly trashy, tbh. I think I dislike it even more than Jaden/Hayden/etc, and I dislike that trend a whole heck of a lot. Seriously, it's nice that this name has special meaning to you, but think about it on a grown woman, a brain surgeon, an attorney, a senator, the president of the United States. Maelyn sounds like a five-year-old.

If you're absolutely stuck on the -lyn:

Evelyn
Jocelyn
Kaitlyn

These are legit names that don't sound made up and would age better on a grown woman than Maelyn.

Names that might incorporate "Lynn":

Lydia
Lynette
Ellen
Eleanor

Names you could get "Mae" out of:

Maeve
Maya
Matilda
Mara
Marlene
Macy
Margaret

Other names you might like:

Sadie
Vanessa
Ava
Sophie
Eliza
Jacqueline
Gabrielle

Don't do that to a kid. Maelyn is awful and tacky and just plain trendy. Name her Mae Lynn or Maelle or Mae somemiddlename and just nickname her at home Maelyn. She will thank you for Mae, not Maelyn.
