fangirlism: (Baylee! - Fandom Sims 2)
[personal profile] fangirlism
We were talking baby names, and I brought up my choices for my future kids (2 boys' names, 2 girls' names):

Girls were Charity Faith and Serenity Hope
Boys were Aidan Michael and Quentin Nicholas (or Nickolas, IDK which spelling I wanna use)

Thoughts?

Edit: I realize Michael is a really common boy's middle name, but flow is a pretty big deal with me, probably the biggest. If you have any other names that work with the first name Aidan, I'll consider them. :)

Second edit: And it's been kindly pointed out to me that Charity Faith and Serenity Hope are kinda overkill of a theme, so suggestions of middle names for them too? (I'd like to keep the first names, I'm a big fan of name themes. My sisters and I have a pseudo one.)

Third edit: Is Serenity Celeste still overkill? (I won't do Charity Celeste because of the alliteration)

I am really starting to like the name Corbin. There is a new boy at my preschool whose name is this so I am always saying it, so it just has grown on me.

WDYT?

I work at a grocery store and always look at people's checks to see if they have any interesting names listed.  Some that I have encountered are Edris and Cresent both female.
Also I found a couple on Facebook (can't really remember who we have a connection with) and they mentioned their three daughters in their profile.  The parents are named Josh and Natashia.  The daughters are Hailey Lynn, Makayla Maureen and Brianna Jo.
And another name I saw today Nevaia.  I unfortunately saw it in the obituaries and I assumed that there was an old lady named Nevaia and had beat the trend by decades, but it turned out to be for a 9 week old baby.

Three things and to make it easy I'll put them in one post.

My cousin's friend had a baby:
Hayden Maria

I think it's cute. I prefer Hayden on boys, but I have heard of it on girls so I think it's cute.

Gotta love facebook. Twin girls I forgot I went to high school with (born mid 80's):
Mekalie (Mac-kay-lee)
Mekenah (Mac-ken-na)
A little too close in my opinion, but at least they weren't one of the many Lisa/Jessica/Rebecca's

On that note, two babies born this week with 80's names that seem somewhat weird on a baby:
Rebekah Jane, sister to Samuel
Jessica Faith, sister to Nathan and Bradley

met a woman named thasia yesterday. she was probably in her mid-20s and really fit her name, imo, very artsy and kind of hippie-esque.

the pronunciation is like saying asia but putting a hard T sound in front of it. kind of like taser. but not.

i think i might really like it. thoughts?

Shasta (pronounced shas-tah)
Shiri (pronounced sheer-ee)

WDYT? It's not a sibset or anything, it's just two names that I've heard before and was wondering what people thought about them. I think that Shasta is unisex, though I knew it on a girl. Shiri is a girl's name.

Shasta is kind of different; I remember the first time that I heard someone say it and how weird I thought it was then, but now I like that it's different. I think that Shiri is pretty.

I had to do research about clergy people at my job, and I came across some really unfortunate last names:

Rev. Gross               Rev. Luster
Rev. Leech               Rev. Petty
Rev. Crook               Rev. Rich
Rev. Dix                    Rev. Threat
Rev. Graves             Rev. Smuts

And some "good" ones:

Rev. Church            Rev. Rainbow
Rev. Chapel            Rev. Sing
Rev. Christensen   Rev. Hope
Fr. Father                 Rev. Goodman
Fr. Good

So, who do you know that has an unfortunate name for their profession? Or fitting? Also, would you avoid someone because they had a "bad" last name? Like Dr. Pain, Captain Sink or Professor Dumbaz?

Martie from the Dixie Chicks had another girl

Harper Rosie
I kind of like Harper and would have preferred it to be just Rose. She has two sisters, Eva Ruth and Kathleen Emilie, both of which I LOVE! Oh well...

Spotted this is a local UK Newspaper:

http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/s/213/213859_mum_with_a_dozen_reasons_to_smile.html

A woman with 12 kids, who has named them:

Jodie-Lee, Steven, Georgina, Arron, Riga-Marie, Lucy-Anne, Callum, Gina-Louise, Luca-Jane, Mia-Bella, Blousy-May, Forlan, Jenson.

Personally, I think some of the individual names are okay, although I never was a fan of hyphens. Also, I grant you may be running out of ideas by kid number 8 or 9, but I still don't think there's much excuse for Blousy-May...

I'm a huge fan of The Beatles. I haven't seen a list like this, but if there has been one, forgive me.There's a * next to the ones I like. )

I think from now on, I'll include the parent's names, because there's not all that many birth announcements any time:

My names

I've posted here a couple of times before, but since the last time I posted about names in my own family, I've had another baby.

My name is Maya-Marie Jodi. Yep, Maya-Marie. My mother was in charge of naming me - my father named my older sister Heidi Rose, so Mum got to name the next one. She's into more unusual names, so I ended up with two names because she couldn't decide on just one. She liked Maya and Marie is a family name so instead of naming me Maya and having my middle name as Marie she decided to give me both and give me Jodi as a middle. I don't like my name, and I go by May.

My children have unusual names... kind of. Most people think they're strange when they first hear them but grow to like them. Needless to say, my mother was the only person who loved them instantly xD If you don't like them, that's fine xD
My kids are:

Rahel Megan (pronounced Ray-el) - Age 5
Vegas Lee - Age 2
Shawn David - born May 16th

My husband's name is David Joseph (and yes our youngest child's middle is his name, if he'd been a girl the middle name would have been Maya). His older brother is Joseph David... yeah his parents had no imagination xD

A guy I know has 4 year old twin boys:

Lucien and Liam

Lucien Patrick ( Lucien after the boys great grandfather) , and Liam Connor (Connor after his Irish heritage.) The fathers name is David. Thoughts?

Other sibsets: Mercedes, Bailie, and Carter
Judah and Reese (a boy)
Morgan, Terra, and Dane (all girls).
Matthew, Tyler, Erin, and Kaitlyn.
Kendyl and Saxon (girl and boy)
Matthew, Hannah, and John Mark.
