Shasta (pronounced shas-tah)
Shiri (pronounced sheer-ee)

WDYT? It's not a sibset or anything, it's just two names that I've heard before and was wondering what people thought about them. I think that Shasta is unisex, though I knew it on a girl. Shiri is a girl's name.

Shasta is kind of different; I remember the first time that I heard someone say it and how weird I thought it was then, but now I like that it's different. I think that Shiri is pretty.

I guess it's just an Arizona company, but this is the first thing I think of...

And I don't like Shiri. It seems made up or a nickname for something longer.

When I hear Shasta, I think of that show that was on for like three weeks - Shasta McNasty.
Shiri - Eh. I wouldn't name MY kid this, but I suppose its cute if a parent was going for original names that come from common/classic names.

Shasta brings to mind the soda for me, as well. Soda I enjoyed, even, but as a name, not so much.

I knew someone named Shiri. Everyone was always calling her Sherry. I'm not partial to it, but since I associate it with her, I dislike it even more.

Shiri is pretty, I hate Shasta, it sounds trashy.

I don't mind the name Shasta, but probably because I had a friend in college with that name. Then again, it also reminds me of the soda.

Shasta Cola, anyone? That and Tang remind me of my grandmother's house growing up for some reason.

Shiri is OK, but I don't love it.

Shasta is a mountain and a softdrink, and I really dislike it as a name.

Shiri seems like a bastardization or Sherry and doesn't flow off the tongue well.

Shasta makes me think of the soda. Which is one of my favorite beverages, so I guess it's an okay name.

I don't like Shiri because I hate Shiri Appleby.

Um, Shasta is a mountain in California. But I kinda like it, because I love mountains and nature...so I have good associations with it. But apparently most people think of the soda brand...

I had a little girl named Shiri in one of my classes when I used to teach swimming lessons, and I always thought it was such a lovely sounding name. It's a Hebrew/Israeli name, and it means "my song". Her family came here from Israel a few years ago. Her brother's name was Ori, which I also liked...it means "my light". I think their parents were good at picking out names. :o)

I like Shasta. It's a good imitation of Coke for a fraction of the price!
