My school friends and I were discussing names in class the other week and one of the girls mentioned that a relation of hers had a daughter named:

Paisleigh (as in the word Paisley)

I actually don't mind it. If you don't take it by its true meaning, i think, it makes a cute sounding name

there was also a boy in my year at school (making him 16 years old) called:

Beau-Jangles

for serious, just like the song :S

I took the blog quiz a couple of posts ago, but I think that we can create a better one together! I'm going to do it using the quibblo personality test maker thing. So, I think we should start out by getting suggestions. Also, if you have any better categories, please suggest those too. And tell me if you think a category is bad, I'm not sure about half of these.

So. Boys/Girls suggestions please, for

Classic names
Trendy names
Ecclectic names
Eccentric names
Straightforward names (the opposite of flowery, I mean. Blunt and to the point)
Fancy/Embellished/Flowery names
Names popular around the world
80's names
50's names
Up and coming names
Urban names
Suburban names
Rural names

Here's the list of the most macho names you could ever give your son:

I have the same book as [profile] nothingtolose19, so I figured I'd put up some name lists too. In the Style section they have lists of names that are hot, or about to become hot (the book is from 1998) and it organizes them into Century Names, Surname Names, Imports, Place Names, Comfy Names, Good Girls, Biblical Boys, and Irish Rogues, so I guess I'll just post those lists, one at a time and people can post their opinions on the names. I'll start with...

I was bored when I thought this up and am just now getting around to posting it. I think it'll be fun. Its a bit more challenging than the last game I posted.

----

Come up with 10 girl names and 10 boy names using your initials, use your last intial for a second middle name. I.e. My intials are LES and I'd use Lenore elizabeth sawyer. Pick your top name for each gender and make sure you like them!

What do you guys think of the name River, for either a girl or a boy? It's not really my style, but I think I rather like it in the abstract. Trouble is, I can't say it outloud with any middle or surname without it sounding like a geographical description - the River Doran, runs through Europe.

Also, entirely seperate point, what do you think of the names:

Adrienne (f)
Adrianna (f)
Adrian (m)
Guy (m)
Pearl (f)

No particular reason for asking - not sure what I think of them myself - but I have a cold and am laid up at home, so I thought I would fill time by collecting some opinions :)

so I thought I'd share some of the lists out of my baby name book... today I'll post

I'm back with Surname Names. I have a feeling these won't be as popular. Haha.

Eloise

I'm surprised I haven't heard more of this name lately, with the huge surge of people wanting any name that could possibly have Ella as a nickname.

I want to like it more than I do, but I'm pretty neutral to it. Just thought I'd throw it out there cos others might like it.

Does anyone here know the meaning/origin of the name Devonny?

It's the name of a female character in this old time-travel book and I've never seen it anywhere else. The only suggestion I've found is that it might be a pet form of Devon.

I've never considered it as an option before but my husband heard me talking about the book to a friend and he mentioned that he thought the name was interesting. I must like it (at least subconsciously) because it's the only name from the book that I remember :)

Thanks!

WDYT?

I meant to post about this a long time ago, but I don't think I ever did. My mom grew up with a friend named Annabritt, and her parents are from Norway. I can't find anything about it on name websites, though, so I guess it's possible she made it up. Maybe it's because I grew up hearing the name so there's no shock value, but I kind of like it.
What do you think?

A girl in another community posted the link to a raw-vegan family site.
I found it all very interesting, but their names in particular

Storm (dad)
Jinjee (mom)

Raven (g)
Jome (b)
Shale (g)
Adagio (g)
Yarrow (g)

WDYT? (I'm not sure if the first two are from the same mother as the rest of them)
