Does anyone here know the meaning/origin of the name Devonny?

It's the name of a female character in this old time-travel book and I've never seen it anywhere else. The only suggestion I've found is that it might be a pet form of Devon.

I've never considered it as an option before but my husband heard me talking about the book to a friend and he mentioned that he thought the name was interesting. I must like it (at least subconsciously) because it's the only name from the book that I remember :)

Thanks!

From a Caroline B. Cooney novel, right? My sister likes her books.

It might be a take on Daphne, too, I guess, but I can't find anything either.

I think I know what book you're talking about. Ever since I read that book, I've always kind of liked the name, but I'd never actually use it.

Oooooh I recently tried reading that book, got fed up and gave up, lol. I did think it was quite an interesting name though. A little made-up sounding I suppose. Maybe I'm wrong, I haven't looked it up?

The first place I heard the name was in the movie The Notebook, when the family first shows up at the nursing home. It's the name of the granddaughter. I think it's really pretty :)

I've seen the name Deveney and I like it, so I guess it's kind of similar. It's certainly different, but not bad.
