Here are some birth announcements from the past couple months. I'm getting them off the website of a local newspaper. Don't worry, there's not too many.

subluxate: Sophia Bush leaning against a piano (Stock: Young girl with flowers)

My girlfriend and I have serious baby fever, but we're not having kids for a few years. We have, however, picked out potential names.

Isaac Hyphen Gary: we both really like Isaac, Hyphen is a name she's always wanted to use, and Gary is a family name from my great-uncle who was killed in a car accident when he was in his early twenties. It's also my brother's middle name.

Jonas Ezekiel: old school ftw. We're not Christian, but we do both like those names. We're toying with being weird and adding "Samael" after Ezekiel so there are two middle names here, but we're undecided. (Yes, we do know it means "poison of God". There's something oddly awesome about "God strengthens poison of God" to us.)

Delta California: by far the weirdest name on our list. Delta could go by Del if she wanted. That's after my girlfriend's grandmother. California is pure sentiment. We may change the middle name here.

Shea Elliot: for a girl. She'd be named after our respective (male) best friends. If we happen to have three boys, we'll switch this around to have Elliot Shea instead. I'm hoping for a girl, though.

Thoughts? Input? Anything's welcome.

Okay Folks,

Now that we've all beat Londen/London into the ground with hate, hubby and I thought about it and really...even though it's a beautiful name we think that we don't want to be "those parents"...such as these parents we know who named their child Indy Anna Hoosier *shudders*...

So WHAT do you think now of... Lillian Elaine English... Lilly for short, of course.

I was wondering what kind of names you'd think I would like based on my personality or likes/dislikes.

Basically I'm really not satisfied with my favorite names because I couldn't actually see myself using them. I think that I might actually be a person who would just go with "John" or "Jack". So I was wondering what names you'd think I'd actually like or use.

How do you feel about the name Rafferty? It's been growing on my lately. I usually hate nicknames, but I really like the idea of using Raff or even Rafe.

Bored.

So, names fascinate me and even though I have no need for any lists for anything (well, except for RP characters, but they tend to be in settings where off-the-wall names are the norm), I still like to go through and list out names that I like.

It's slightly long )

What do you think of
Serendipity
as a name?

I'm not usually a fan of word names, but I think this would be a pretty name for a girl. Very nice meaning, I think: "Good fortune, luck," according to dictionary.com.

Possible nicknames:
Sera/Sara
Sadie (too far a stretch?)
What else?

Good middle names?

Or is it just stupid as a name and I should just forget it?

Once again I'm stuck on middle names, and could really use some help.  We want the baby to have two middle names, one from each family.  Last name is LaPointe.

Sibsets aren't a huge concern for me, but for what it's worth, our first son will either be Ryan John Frederick or Ryan Frederick John (probably the first.)

I spent a fair amount of time compiling girls' names yesterday after Jeff said he was second-guessing Claire.  He then went through my list and crossed off the ones he didn't like (there were a lot, which I expected) and left:

Ones with ?'s are names he didn't dislike, but didn't know if he liked, either.  Kailey got two checkmarks, which I assume means he loves it.  (I'm still debating on whether or not I'm sold on it.)  I like all the names, but I definitely prefer some over others - still, I don't want to tell you which ones, because I might fall in love with a specific combo.

Go nuts :)
[identity profile] herpickleness.livejournal.com
what do you guys think of the names:

Janeen
Jeanine
Jenine

Janelle
Jenelle

And I won't take offense to your opinions. Two girls at my high school were named janeen and janelle (sisters) and were the prettiest girls in school and I just figured i'd ask. I stumbled across their myspaces today...lol

As I've mentioned in this community a couple times, I was named after my mother. She's Katherine Marie (Kathy), and I'm Kaitlyn Marie (Kait). When I eventually (key word) have a daughter, I want to name her after us both as well. I'm having trouble finding any K names I like though. The middle name MUST be Marie. I'm a big fan of the nickname Kelly (but not as a full name).

K names ... )

Also feel free to vote on my name list, which I recently made: http://www.babynames.com/namelist/9629041

One or two days ago I posted in this comm with my original namelist.

My husband and I have gone over them and made a more finalized one. However, indecisive us, we're having some trouble finalizing it down to the real name. So, I made a namelist over at babynames.com and would love it if people could go over there and give us some votes or just comment here. http://www.babynames.com/namelist/9630517

I also have two questions.

A couple names I heard today - Keaton (b) and Pennine (g). What do you think? I surprisingly quite like these, though I think Pennina would sound better.

---

Choosing between a few names, I don't like the idea of having two children with the same first initial in a sibset (coming from a sibset where all of us had the same first initial).
Which do you like better?

Henry vs Hunter
Emmeline vs Edmond
Dorothea (nn Dorothy) vs Donald

---

I have a twinset idea if I have two of the same gender, but I can't decide what I would do if I had one of each. What do you think, which one boy and one girl name of these would you put together?

Boys: Nataniel and Theodor
Girls: Nataniela (Natanya) and Dorothea (Dorothy)

I still think Jemima and Jonah would be a good g/b twinset, but hubby has vetoed that ;)

-----

And last, here is my most recently tweaked name list: http://www.babynames.com/namelist/9529612
What do you think? Any first names you prefer with another middle name listed?

I'd like to use the name JAEL for the lead character in one of my stories because I really like how it looks.
My question is: How would you pronounce it?

 I've been pronouncing it YALE.

Edit: Okay now that I've read all the comments and know what the actual pronunciation is, I no longer like this name. So I'm going to look for a new one.
[identity profile] herpickleness.livejournal.com
Please tell me which middle name you like for each first name. If you don't like a certain name, please tell me why. Some are just a mash up. The ones with * are the ones I super duper like :)

I've also uploaded my favorite names to my list. I completely edited it...whew!

or another?

1. Which do you like most? My personal favourite is Isabel, but I also like Isabella.

2. If you had to choose a middle name with (1), what would it be? I like Isabel Harper or Isabella Francesca

3. If there were twins, what would you name the boy or girl sibling to (1)? Asher Dominic; Ruby ______ (maybe Claire?)

so, my mans name is jack.

and lets just say, for arguments sake, that i was pregnant with a girl, and he went away on a safari (why he wouldnt be taking me with him, god knows, but you had better believe he would get an earful for that haha) and was eaten by a giant hyena while there, never seeing the birth of his daughter (this is so not the truth, btw, i am just being grim) but what do you guys think of the name jack as a middle name for a girl?

ruby jack
sophie jack
annabelle jack
lily jack

...you get the idea.

i kind of love it.

what say you?

ETA: thanks for all the input, guys. i really dont like the names jacqueline or jackie, but i love jack, and the first names listed here are all high on my list, but i was just using them as an example, thinking of the really feminine names on my list, for instance, i wouldnt use francesca jack, yknow? i really love non-princessy sounding names, so yea, i kind of love this idea, and might bring it up to the (non-hyena eaten) boy for a second daughter, if that ever happens ;)

I have noticed that many names from 80 years ago and fell out of fashion are being resurrected.
Examples are for girls: Hazel, Eleanor, Adelaide, Edith, Stella, Margaret, etc. I haven't heard of Edna or Millicent much.
Boys: (some are names that can also be a surname) Ashton, Broderick, Preston, Weston, etc.

What do you think? I think it's making a statement.

I like Edith, Hazel, and Millicent(Millie) a lot. Ashton is nice, it's my own last name though.

I am pregnant with my first child, due October 11th, and I just found out he is a boy.

My husband and I have decided on Adrian for his first name, but we are stuck on a middle name. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Lately I have been even more obsessed with names than I usually am (thanks to this community, I think! :D)

Anyway, I've been trying to find recent birth announcements online. As soon as I find some, I'll be sure to put them on!

Okay, here are the new ones I found (* are ones I like):

PS: Vote on my names?:  http://www.babynames.com/namelist/9629128 Some of these aren't probably ones that I would use, but I just thought of and thought were pretty. I'd definitely need to scale it down it I was seriously considering having a child, but for now, they're just fun to imagine :) These also aren't all my favorites - not by a long shot! Ah, I love names :)
