I have noticed that many names from 80 years ago and fell out of fashion are being resurrected.
Examples are for girls: Hazel, Eleanor, Adelaide, Edith, Stella, Margaret, etc. I haven't heard of Edna or Millicent much.
Boys: (some are names that can also be a surname) Ashton, Broderick, Preston, Weston, etc.

What do you think? I think it's making a statement.

I like Edith, Hazel, and Millicent(Millie) a lot. Ashton is nice, it's my own last name though.

I like Stella and Margaret. I always think of a witch when I hear Hazel, idk why. Preston is cute, but I'd never use it.

I've really grown to love Ashton, and while I'm not a huge fan of some of the 'old' names, I like Eleanor and I actually met a customer at work a few weeks ago who's name was Millicent - I really like it, have for years. I like the nn Millie too, and would much rather use Millicent as the full name instead of Amelia/Emilia/Amelie.

Millicent reminds me of the children's story 'Millicent and the Wind' :)

I love Eleanor. Hate Stella, and I have no idea why.

I like older names, as evidenced by my personal name picks (Jonas and Delta especially).

I like old fashion names like that, I love the name Maeve. My moms name is Roberta, my aunts name is Margaret, and my grandmothers name is Ruth and Martha

I work at a supermarket, so I often hear kids names when their parents are talking to them...in the last 2 weeks I've met three little Prestons. None of them over about 3 years old.
Ashton/Asher are definitely popular ones now too.

I love Edith, that is my biological grandmother's name. I like all the others too, except for maybe Stella, it seems trashy to me for some reason.

Millicent makes me think of Queen Malificent from Sleeping Beauty.

Names tend to go in cycles, particularly as people try to honour people in the generation before their parents, so older names come back in as 'fresh' 3 or 4 generations later. Surnames were also popular a few generations ago.

Most of my names are old names, particularly Irena (to honour Irena Sendler), and Franklin (to honour my grandfather).

I love Hazel, and I think Edith and Eleanor are alright.

The same thing is happening here (in The Netherlands) people suddenly give their children very old-fashioned names again...but I like it.

I love old-fashioned names, but I hate surnames as first names. I'd say that's more trendy than old-fashioned. Historically surnames as first names were usually used because they were a family name. Not always, but usually. So when I see little boys named Ashton and Preston and Weston running around, it just seems pretentious and silly. That's just my opinion, though.

Eleanor is one of my favourites. I've only ever met one though. Lots of Margarets.
