What do you think of Benjamin Tyson Lastname?  This is a new character on Desperate Housewives, I don't want to spoil anyone so I won't mention who exactly this is.

ok.. so, my mom had a name all picked out before i was born... i was supposed to be Lacy Michelle.. however, when i got here she said i didn't look like a Lacy Michelle.. so, she named me Kimber Leigh...  she said she'd always sworn that she would never name her daughter any variation of Kim/Kimberly because she hated a girl with that name in school... but she said when she saw me i just looked like a Kimber..

my question is..

What if, when your child is born they don't look like your favorite name, the name you've spent countless hours deciding on and falling in love with?   What if that name just doesnt fit them?    Will you have a back up or will you stick to your guns?

As overcompensation for the fact that I have no middle name I'd like to give any children I have two middles. That's a ways off but I'd like all your opinions on a name.

Henry Miles Everett or
Henry Everett Miles

My SO prefers Miles Everett and I like Everett Miles. With or with out Henry, which order do you like better?

so here i sit, with 3w2d remaining til i'm due and can you believe i still don't have a baby name? i'm just going to straight up ask for help here, ok?

these are the things that are important to me in a baby name:

-popularity, it shouldn't be ranked high on the SSN list. so names like Sophia, Lily, Ava are out for me...as they're all in the top 10. but i do love all of them, so maybe you have an idea of my "taste"

-unique, it shouldn't be too plain. no offense, but while Mary, Jane and Ann are classic names, they don't "POP" enough for my tastes.

-uneek, it shouldn't be too uneek. i don't want my daughter confused for one of frank zappa's children...so Diva, Moon, Dweezil are out. but thanks.

-tough, i really like tough names on girls. if i had it my way, i'd name my daughter a unisex name like Elliot, but that name simply sounds horrible w/ my last name, so it's out. I do want something strong, though. Something that makes you think of a "sturdy" lady. Tegan, Scotia, Wren, Georgia, are all those kind of names for me and have all been vetoed by my dear husband.

-matchy/matchy, my 9y/o daughter's name is Isabel Lark. Mind you please that 9 years ago, Isabel wasn't ranked on any name lists but has since grown popular. We call her Izzy mostly, but I don't want any rhyme time names w/ Isabel, so Isadora, Anabell, Abigail, Isla are all out for me.

So if you have a few minutes and you've read my criteria, what name would you suggest? I really appreciate you reading this, if you're still reading this.

TIA!! Seriously.

(edit: oh yeah, duh, it's a girl incase you couldn't figure that out)

I was looking through the top 1,000 baby names for the year 2006, and found some that were, well, strange to be on last years list. Some where popular decades ago, and some are just plain strange. WDYT?

Today was my first temp teaching day and I was placed on a darling kinder class. I thought you'd be interested in their names (I sure had trouble pronouncing some of them!)

I teach swimming classes at my campus pool...and I come across alot of interesting names. Here are the kids I'm teaching this semester:

Colin - Dad is white, the boy looks Asian...maybe Mom is Asian? Absolutely adorable.
Manit (pronounced "mah-NEET") - Indian. Quite a handful, haha. But SO cute.

Charlotte - Very energetic, talkative little blonde girl.
Elena - Family is Polish. Very shy.
Shir (pronounced "sheer") - Family is Israeli. Very sweet and timid.
Erica - Asian. Best swimmer in the class. REALLY should be in the next level, but her mother sent her back to the level she already passed to "perfect her strokes". *sigh*
Joshua - Asian. Never seems like he wants to be there, haha.
Cole - Asian. Sooo little. Sooo cute.

I also teach some adult classes. These are some of the adult names I have this semester:

Robert (goes by Bob) - White, redhead. Very good swimmer.
Aracelli (goes by Ceci) - Married to Robert. She looks like she's maybe half Asian of some sort, and half white. Very hard worker.
Manisha - Indian. Very nervous and unsure of herself.
Rajeev (goes by Raj) - Indian. Also very unsure of himself, and absolutely HORRIBLE at backstroke, haha. But SUCH a nice guy.

Manbir (pronounced "Man-BEER") - Really sweet guy. He's a freshman at my school, and I've had alot of fun working with him. :o)
Wilda - Asian and covered with tattoos. Very interesting girl.

I really like it when others post lists of class names, so I thought I'd share the preschool class from the daycare I work at.  I know a few of their sibs' names, but not all.

random...

I'm new here and to livejournal. I'm due December 4th. I don't know if I'm having a girl or a boy.. but I really want to have the exact name for each planned ahead of time. I'd love thoughts and advice on the names.. but I'll probably need to give a little more info first:

In the birth announcements this weekend there was quite a gem!

Jesse James lastname.

I kid you not.

Also, in China
3,000: approximate number of parents in China who named their baby after the Beijing Olympi Games. Most the of the 3,491 children given the name Aoyun, or Olympics, were born around 2000, when Beijing was bidding to host the even. Others were names after the Five Friendlies, the mascots of the Games.

And in my Politics, Protest and Music class we were talking about Woody Guthrie and his kids names were Nora and Arlo.
I kind of like them...

Finally I had time to sit down and rewise my babynames list! The new names start from the second blue part. I must admit that though I like the boys names, it's very unlikely that I'll use those - they're very guilty pleasures.
