[identity profile] traezer.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
I was looking through the top 1,000 baby names for the year 2006, and found some that were, well, strange to be on last years list. Some where popular decades ago, and some are just plain strange. WDYT?

I think it's weird that Ashley is still common. it seems so 15-20 years ago.

yeah. it's definitely an 80's name, but i noticed that people still use a lot of names from the 80's that were really popular, like jessica.

I'd bet money that Johnpaul was because of the Pope.

The parents of Izayah obviously forgot to take their Bible to the hospital as a spelling reference.

Several parents never heard of the concept of nicknames (Aces, Maverick). And others confused names with titles (Prince, Princess, Junior).

And some of the names aren't bad. I like Dexter, Atticus, Vivian, and Daphne.

Okay, to me the weirdest one on there was German.. wth? That's a nationality, not a name for a person!

Trace, Case...I'll never get the appeal.
Gilbert, Milton...SO old-fashioned, IMO!
German...huh?!
Chastity is a name I just cannot stand.
But I do like Daphne =)
