Ideally, I'd like to have the 'twin gene' that runs in my family and have a boy and a girl. Names?:

Conor Allen (Allen is after my fiance's grandfather who passed away last year) and Jaime Noella.

What are your opinions?

<3 Amber

EDIT: I should've explained my reason behind the spelling of my future daughter's name- "J'aime" is French for 'I love'. A large part of my family is French, so I'm drawing from that. :) Thanks for all your thoughts!

I've been doing family genealogy lately and there are several generations that feature the boy's name "Drury." My great great great great great grandparents, James McDearmon and Mary Daniel were married by a man named Drury Lacy, and they gave the name to a son, who gave it to his son, etc, etc on down the line.

I think its prounounced like DRUR-y rather than DREW-ry. I've never heard this name before except in a nursery rhyme (Do you know the muffin man...who lives in Drury lane?) I'd probably never use it but I thought it was interesting.

There was no entry on behindthename but I did find this:

Drury is a Norman name, possibly derived from the former village of Rouvray, near Rouen, Normandy. The name "de Rouvray" may have been shortened to Drury over time. Another explanation that has been published is that Drury meant "lover" in Old French or "Pearl" in Saxon. Although romantic possibilities, they are probably inaccurate. A third, and more likely, origin is that the name of Drieu of Normandy (and later of St. Edmunds), our earliest Drury ancestor, was extended to Drury when surnames were adopted in the thirteenth century.

Hi!
I've been reading (and occasionally commenting) for a while, but I finally got around to making an updated long list and I'd love some feedback.

It is kind of a long list (and it probably doesn't include everything...) but if you have any comments, that would be fantastic!

Thanks,
Caroline

We went out for nuggets, and in the play area there was a very cute little girl that was being kind of bratty and blocking the platforms up to the slide. With the intention of modeling nice behavior for my 2 yr old, I leaned down and asked this little girl her name.
A voice from above (Not the little girl herself) answers and says, "Her name is (mumble)-istin." I asked, "Is your name Kristin? Kristin, can you move please so we can climb up to the slide?" The Voice replies with an audible sigh, "NOT KRIStin! WESTIN! Her name is WESTIN." The Voice was Westin's older sister named Parker. They had a baby brother named John.

I can kind of see Parker on a girl thanks to Parker Posey, but Westin? Maybe it was spelled differently...Weston, Westyn, Westan. idk. The girls' names just seemed way to masculine to me, but I wanted to post in here and see what everyone else thinks. Parker's reaction to me calling Westin 'Kristin' makes me think that happens often.

Why oh why if your surname is Manly would you give your son the first name Guy? Guy Manly? Sheesh!

And it wasn't one of those spam e-mails either. It was a legitimate response to some work-related material I requested.

I found a new favourite name the other day: Carys.
I absolutely love it. I very rarely like girls names, so to find one I love this much is rare! Haha.

Then I found slight problem with it...
My boyfriend's name is Morris.
Carys Morris rhymes, and sounds awful!

What names have you found that you can't use purely because of the look/sound of it with your names, first or last?
