Dominique = LOVE it!
Hailey [or Haylie?] = I like Hailey, like Eminem's daughter, but the original spelling would -surprisingly to me- be Hayley
Kimberly = guilty pleasure of mine! Maybe I'm biased because of the character in Nip/Tuck (she's a blond bimbo with hidden strength that's revealed later on the show..who am I kidding? I just think the actress is lovely, and her name is Kelly. But I digress..)

Sally = I think it's really pretty, short for Sarah?

Vanessa = it's a pretty name, and "international" too, but to me it's always sounded snob :/

Evander = LOVE it!!
Grant = it reminds of the word/verb :/
Jason = too common, but I like the sound
Jeffrey/Jeffery [I know it's often spelt 're', but my brother's name is 'er', I'm not sure how common that is.] = it's a dorky name to me, sorry
Kenneth = like it!
Kieran = like it!!
Murphy = even more dorky name :/ plus, there's Murphy's law
Oscar = calls for endless Oscars night jokes
Roger = too old and overused
Seth = LOVE it!
Simon = not my style, but nice
Todd = with one 'd', it means 'death' in german :/
Travis = very cool and modern, without being trendy

See, I don't get how Sally can be short for Sarah? The two names are nothing alike, except they both start with S. Plus...Sally is two syllables, as is Sarah. So, how is saying Sally any shorter.


The same goes for Jack being a nn for John. Which...I had never heard before.

It just doesn't make sense to me.

A nickname to me is just a shorter name that you go by if your own name is kind of long. Not a 'less formal name' that isn't even your original name/

yeah, I never got the Jack-John thing either.. but my dictionary actually states that Sally is short for Sarah, go figure :P I think it's because, while being the same length, Sally is an easier sound to make, you roll your tongue less or something. I don't think it's even considered a name on its own :/

I love the name Sally! I don't think I'd use it, but I just love the sound and meeting people named Sally...heh.
My preferred spelling is Haley.
I HATEHATEHATE the spelling Kieran. Ciaran! Please! It's such a terrific name when it's spelled Ciaran.
I like Simon, the rest don't exactly float my boat (except Ciaran), but they're not terrible names for other people...except Evander, haha, that's odd. For girls my favorites are Sally, Vanessa, and Claudia

I do like it spelt Ciaran actually. I would never have thought of that though - because Kieran is my cousin's name so I guess I am just used to it.

I like Brooke, Sally, and Shelby. I can't use Shelby though because our last name starts with a Bee- sound.
I love Andrew (my husband's name, and my son's middle name), Angus (cute kid on 2.5 men!), Jeffery (my cousin), Roger, Simon, and Travis (my son's name!).
