I love different names...nothing too common. I think that's where a lot of people get iffy about the names I choose. My boyfriend and his family and my family just...we don't agree on the names. lol

Colton
Cole
Adrien
Addison
Aiden
Avrey
Bailey
Charlie
Brysen
Braeden

Are those names too different? I've only been looking at male names and I've only gotten up to the C's, so far, but I was wondering if anyone else thought the names were a bad choice.

I probably will end up going with something more normal, but I'd like to give myself something with a variety. You never know what name will end up growing on my boyfriend. :)

With the whole trying to find a name for our baby, I came across these obstacles quite frequently:

1)I found a name that I love, but someone in my family, or a close friend, or a friend or family member's baby was named that. This is along the same lines as friends or family members 'claiming' the name for whenever they decide to have a baby.

2) I absolutely loved the name, but it reminded me of that shitty town we drove through while doing our cross country trip, or that boy in elementary that used to bully everyone, or my high school boyfriend's ex gf whom I hated and have associated the name with ever since, just to name a few examples.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Also, just for fun, what names do you love but have to avoid, and why?

Yesterday my brother and I were coming up with stupid names, and I came up with "Jessifer" - Jessica + Jennifer.

Lo and behold, today I encounted a woman name Jennica.

...sigh.

The first question is the one that's bothering me the most at the moment. All three names are currently tied in my #3 spot for girls after Julianna Lillian and Olivia Rose.

The second question is one that popped up after my last post when a few people said they didn't like the combos I had. I'm just wondering which ones sound better.

The third question is more questioning my parents' taste in names. My brother, who is 2-1/2 years older, is Michael Paul. Had I been a boy, I would have been Scott Timothy, but they couldn't decide on a girls' name. It was up between Lindsay (mom) and Erin (dad). I was almost named Erin, but Mom vetoed it when my dad's mn idea was Karen. I'm just wondering what you guys think - Erin or Lindsay? I'm kind of indifferent, actually. I wouldn't have minded Erin, and despite it's popularity, I'm not opposed to Lindsay.

Speaking of name books, I was wondering if anyone has a copy of the New Book of Magical Names. I'm particularly wondering if it's worth having if you already have a copy of The Complete Book of Magical Names by the same author. I'm trying to decide if I should order it, but don't want to waste my money if it's basically the same thing with a new cover.

I have the latter and love it, it's a great name book. There's a lot of bizarre stuff good for laughs, but a lot of good stuff too, especially if you tend to like nature names of other more unusual names. Plus there's a lot of interesting text in it too about. It's a lot more than just lists and meanings. It's a name book you can actually read cover to cover, if you are so inclined.

If you don't have either (and aren't offended by non-Christian thought as the book is very pagan in philosophy) it's a good book to have.

The baby is now three weeks old and they've changed their mind about the spelling of the middle name (which most of you didn't like). The new spelling is Jaqualin.

Zoe Jaqualin Stowe

better, worse, or just screwy in a different way?

my initial thought is that the new way is going to be harder for her to learn to spell, but it does look more feminine.
