I've never met a Bianca so I guess I'm pretty neutral on the name. I have a baby names book called "The Baby Name Survey Book" it tells you the impression most people get when they hear a name. I looked up Bianca and it says: "Bianca is described as a real jet setter-a beautiful foreign sophisticate who is intriguing, ritzy, sexy and wild". I have to agree- that's the first image that I get to.

It's a name that I like in theory... I think it's really nice and it suits my style etc.
BUT.. the way people pronounce it here (Australia) sounds a bit gross to me. We say it kind of like -- be-YANK-uh, and some people in particular make it sound not so nice. If I could enforce a softer pronunciation onto everyone, I would really love this name, but because most people I know would pronounce it too harshly, I consider it more of an "alright" sort of name..although, I wish I could like it more.

(PS - I don't like the way Australians pronounce my own name either)

I like Bianca. it's my friend's top choice for her baby (if it's a girl) & my neighbor's little niece is Bianca too. although, there are some negative associations w/the name. neither my friend nor I grew up in the same town, but we both found that it reminded us of some snooty girls we knew. weird.
