Here's a quick diagram of my mother's side of the family. I'll try to do my dad's side tomorrow. I'm so thankful for my mother's family tree. My dad doesn't have one, so I'll have to have him help me make the tree, and providing the time (1:36 AM) I'm not doing it anytime soon.

Names I like:

Adele/Adela
Anya
Ariadna
Bella/Belle
Cecille
Eleanor
Francesca
Georgia
Leva
Rosario

My mother's name- Ariadna- is one of my favourite names, but I dont think I'd use it, merely because it's extremely hard to pronounce to most people I/my mother have met.
Are-YAWd-nuh
It's very... chewy, if you will.

Yes, it's true. The only name my husband and I agree on right now for a girl is Emily.

I've known about one Emily in my life, so no matter how much I stare at the SSA stats telling me there have been more Emilys than any other one name for the last DECADE, I just can't help but think it's unique. :(

Is there any chance of the trend slipping? How much torture are we submitting our future daughter to? Maybe if we find a good middle name that she can choose to use?

In the same vein, I thoroughly welcome any and all suggestions for girls' names that do NOT end in -a or an 'ah' sound. DH does not want the first name to rhyme with our last name which ends in -a. We prefer traditional "girls' names".

Thanks!

I've thought about what I'm going to name my future children, and I decided that since we've decided that we're going to try for a boy and a girl; even if we don't get one of both. That these are the two names that I think are cutest.

girl :
Brody Wednesday
-I got the idea from reading posts back when I first joined and a girl talked about someone she knew naming their daughter Brody Thursday. But I really like Wednesday.

boy :
Braden Riley
I just kind of came up with that, because a long time ago I knew a guy who's nephews name was Braden. And I've always liked the names Riley, Miles, and Chase. But the other two names don't go very well with the first name.

Sound good to you guys?

EDIT//

Now I'm drawn to the name Ellie for a girl
but I can't think of a good middle name to go with it.
Any suggestions?

What are some of your favorite girl names that start with the letter "A"? My favorite was Audrey, but I can't get past the negative feelings for it due to someone I disliked years ago. I also like Addison, but our last name ends in "son", so that's a no-go.

Why "A", you ask? I think it has a delightfully feminine quality, and I prefer more feminine names for girls.

TIA!

I need middle names to go with "Alyssa"
It's finally a girls name that Scott and I have agreed on...  We've tried the following:

Lacey Jean
Emma Leighann
Emily Anne
Damey Donelle
Kailynn Taylor
.... and we just can't seem to both agree one on or a mixture of names...

He came to me tonight and said, "Ally... A-L-L-Y"  I said, "As in... Alley Cat?"  He goes, "Yeah!"  I said, "How about....  Alyssa..."  and he says, "Yup - I like Alyssa."

Now we need a middle name.

My middle name is Dawn
His mother's name is Dianne
My mothers name is Charlene
Grandmothers are Minnie Sue Howard and Norma Dell Hall (neither of the names I care for much..)

Alyssa Taylor?
Alyssa Leighann?
Alyssa Donelle?
Alyssa Dawn?
Alyssa Dianne?
Alyssa Lynn? (His sister and matchmaker in the first place)

Our last name is Lausch (Pronounced Losh.... like Lost with an h)

Just asked about Alyssa Lynn.. he likes it.  What do we think?

A good friend of mine is going to have a little girl this December and I just found out the other day what they're planning to name her:

Sophia Selena Thibeaudeaux (their last name)

At first, I cringed.. but it's growing on me. I really like Sophia.. I'm not completely sold on Selena yet.

What do you guys think?

A few things:

1. Are there any names that are traditionally one sex that you ONLY like for the other?

Mine: )

2. Another thing: are there any names that you hadn't really considered before, but after reading a book or watching a TV show where one of your favorite characters was named that name, you suddenly liked it?

Mine: )
