So after posting my list of names I liked and having questions about the origin of Kaeslin, I decided to do a little research and see if I could find the site where I found the name originally. Of course, I had no such luck but I did find out some other things about the name/word:

Caeslin is apparently a place in Germany as rootsweb and ancestry.com kept giving me search results as birth places in geneaologies. In searching for an actual location of Caeslin, Germany, none of the sites I found knew where it was. My temporary conclusion (until I do a litle more research) is that it may be a 19th(ish) century place that has since been renamed. Also, the "word" at the very least isnt made up (by me) as it's in a ship's passenger list dating back to 1892 and was linked with Ohio in that list.

I've found nothing to support the name as Irish Gaelic but I did find it in a list of results at www.irishdancinginsydney.com/cladresults.html If someone smarter or more search engine ept than I can find an actual origin of the name and/or a meaning, that would absolutely make my day. I'll keep looking and if I find anything I'll probably update this.

ETA: Oh yeah, there's also someone with caeslin as her livejournal account=)
Kaeslin is also a surname.

My husband and I have been talking a lot about baby names...for the future. This weekend at Kings Dominion (an amusement park) we walked past one of those booths that you get your name on a fancy paper and it has the meaning of your name and information about it. Well, the name Lorelai was one of the ones being displayed. I've always liked that name and turns out my husband likes it too.

Soo...what middle names go good with Lorelai? Our last name is Murtha. I don't like initials that spell things, double letters (no middle names that start with L or M) or rhyming names.

I love Lorelai Grace but the name Grace has been ruined for me. :(

EDIT: I've said here before that I hate the name Ruth...but I think that with Lorelai its kinda nice. So, what do you guys think of Lorelai Ruth? Ruth comes from both of our mother's middle names. Which would be nice since if we have two girls the first would have the middle name after our fathers (both first name Joseph and go by Joe), and the second would have the middle name after our mothers.

I'm glad Matt Damon and his wife has enough sense to name their newborn daughter a decent, normal name such as Isabella. Finally actors with good sense :D

Some sites say it comes from Eleanor and Helen. Others say it is a form of Leona. I prefer the latter description, because Leona means "like a lion." Eleanor and Helen has no meaning, according to what I can find. They are just namesakes.

What thinkest ya'll?

1. I was looking around name sites, and at babynames.com I did a search for "American" boy names. The first three made me die: Adymn, Alexavier, and Anakin. If you fancy a laugh, you should check this out (If the link doesn't work, the search is easy to replicate). Some, like Ethanael, look almost like they could be legit (who am I to say if that is or isn't actually a biblical name?). Some, like Mykelti, claim a biblical meaning ("Who is like God?") but I'm pretty sure aren't actually biblical (what's wrong with Michael?). A few highlights from lower down on the list: Probert and Rangle. I don't know if these are just visitor submissions or names that at least one person has actually inflicted upon a child, but either way...it was a good laugh.

2. Anyways, the web-browsing was a tangent from a list of names I was posting. I don't have any real people names to share, but I have Sims! This is a list of names of babies born so far in my current generation.

I will use Zentavious next time. )

Hello everyone. I'm new here. I'm pregnant with my first child and about (to my calculations) 6wks. I haven't yet been to the doctor. Waiting for a referral to come through.

I do not yet know the sex (duh) but if it's a girl, we've decided to name it Alison because that's my middle name. But I can't seem to think of a middle name to go with it...

any ideas or suggestions?

thanks :)
