My mother's friend has a new granddaughter- her name is Salem. She was born on Friday the 13th; but, apparently, this name has been picked out since her mother was in high school.

What do you think? My mother loves it.

I think it is alright but it's not something that I would ever use.

Yeah. We live in New England, very close to Salem, Massachusetts. So Halloween definitely comes to mind.

I was saying it is interesting, but Salem is a place - Salem, Massachusets, NH, and Oregon - and maybe more. And it's related to witches, which is find nowadays, but not for everyone. I personally wouldn't mind, but you know.. some would.

It's a boys name, like Salem the cat from Sabrina the teenage witch. Also, it just reminds me of the salem witch hunt. Cool story but people got burnt alive... bad name IMO.
