I've been obsessed with the name Mia.

However, I don't feel like it's "enough" of a name to grow into as an adult - any ideas of names this could be used as a nn for? I also really like Martina, but that seems like it would nn to Martie or Tina

I would have never thought of it either, but one of the girls on my friends list has a daughter named Miranda who they call Mia. :-P I was kinda surprised at first, but it fits.

I like the name Mia, however it always reminds me of Rebecca Cartwright and Lleyton Hewitts daughter and then that turns me off it. I can't stand either of them! Martina is an okay name, reminds me of Martina Hingis & Martina Natratilova. It would be shortened to Marty at times I could see too.

I can't play tennis to save my life, but i'm enjoying wimbledon- at least i understand the rules of the game, which is more than I can say about football which is the other sport that's on 24/7 thanks to the world cup!
Having said that... theres zero chance of anyone english winning winbledon and maybe, just maybe a slight chance we'll win the world cup!

I may use the name Amalia. I fell in love with this little girl because the first time I saw her, I thought she was my son Seth. Identical. It was crazy. Same age (matter of weeks apart), same haircut, same face. On graduation day, her father left with my son. (they were dressed similar) When I looked down, and saw Mallie, I went NUTS. I grabbed my boss, and she called Mallie's father's cell phone, and told him to change "Amalia's" diaper. He did, and 5 minutes later he was back, and looking very embarrassed, switched kids with me. :-p

It was a very interesting end to a sad day. (they were graduating = me losing my babies. :'(...)

When I was pregnant, I had every baby name book in the world. All the names were just overwhelming. So, finally, I said I was "going back to basics" and grabbed the bible. I swore that the first name i liked, would be his name. (He was without a doubt boy!) I didn't have far to go, the fifth person in the bible: Seth. AND 5 is my favorite number. Twas perfect! :)

as for Martina, I think Martie is a HORRIBLE nn (no offense, I just really dislike it) & would so not use it just for the possibility of it being shortened to that.
