In a discussion about the Duggars, someone challenged the community in general to come up with good names for 18 kids. So I decided to do that! I used an online "coin-flipper" to decide on the boy-girl order and tried to come up with each name individually, as if, although I planned to have a big family, I was never sure exactly which child would be the last. (Incidentally, there is no way in heck I'm having 18 kids. I'm thinking 4, 5 tops.) I didn't try to match up particularly well with my last name because they would have my husband's last name and he doesn't exist yet!

Okay, that was HARD. Our family's naming convention involves an "E" middle name, so I tried to do that for all the names...and really ran out of good E names by the end. I used the Duggar family as a model so the kids are gendered (and twinned) in the Duggar order.

I used flip-coin.com. You can even tell it to say "girl" and "boy" instead of heads and tails.

You got the Twilight characters, and three of the sci-fi (Serenity, Callista, Tobias), but Jonah's not the fourth. Also, can you name what specific movies/books the names are from? :)

I love Izzy for Isabel and Fancy for Francesca. As someone whose parents did her a great non-favor by calling her by her middle name, though, I recommend against that. It has been the biggest pain!!

Wasn't Aldys the girl on "Never Been Kissed" who was teased mercilessly about her name? (played by Leelee Sobieski *points at icon*)

I think Ula and Eulalia are probably too similar for siblings. I ran into that problem myself, and several others seemed to as well. We find a sound we like, and as we come up with more and more names it gets harder to avoid using it again!

I'm hoping Fertility is maybe a joke? Especially on a boy? (Though it's just as awful on a girl)

I think I remember you posting about no-longer-Samantha who wanted to choose a name of her own instead of the name chosen by people who mistreated her. Did she decide on Holly Soleil, then? I think that's lovely.

Ooh, I love Alexandra Winter, and REALLY love Tabitha Willow. And Elena Claire--don't they both mean 'light'? It would be cool to have triplet girls named Elena, Claire, and Lucy--they all mean 'light' but the names don't sound all cutesy-matchy.

It's hard but not impossible ;) My grandmothers both come from big families (16 and 11) and they all have decent enough names for French Canadian Catholic families.
