WDYT??
I've been lurking on this comm for forever lol.
But I finally decided to post something.
what are your opinions on these names.
Sian (pronounced Sharn) thats my name.
Bethan (pronounced Beth-anne) my 13 yr old sister
Riona (rhymes with Fiona) my 11 yr old sister.
EDIT: I am British, Sian & Bethan are both Welsh names and Riona is (i think) Irish
Also one of my mums hairdressers relatives has a little girl called:
Heaven-Leigh (pronounced Heavenly)
WTF????

Your profile doesn't say where you're located, but you are absolutely outside of the US by my reckoning.
And the way that you have explained how to pronounce your name is going to make all the Americans BUTCHER your name, since they use consonant Rs where you (after a vowel, before a consonant) would just pronounce it like an H.
So. Since most of this community is American (but obviously has many outside the States, all over the globe), keep in mind that to them it's more like "Shahn" and NOT NOT NOT like Sharn. At all.

That's what I get for being an American living in the UK... hypersensitivity to these issues. I remember once somebody in this community asked how to pronounce a name. It might have been Yanni or something like that.
A couple of Brits responded with "Yarni", which for them is correct, but to Americans isn't, because British R equals American H — and I swear dozens of Americans jumped on them all like "WTF?! YARNI? Are you on crack?" type of things.
And so yes. Thought I'd nip that one in the bud.

Sian is the female version of Sean(Shaun) but it has more of an Ah sound in the middle rather than the uh sound in Sean
sorry if that doesn't help much either. i'm so used to it, its hard to explain to anybody with out saying it :)

Here, unless it's a distinctly local dialect, it's all "shahn/sharn".

i wouldnt use it though. because everyone would call her autumnly, as if something were happening in a way that was like autumn.
