So I'm reading this non-fiction book about the Salem Witch Trials and the author (Frances Hill) says: "In those early days (1635) there was a vogue for giving children bizarre-sounding names of religious or political significance. One family's five children were dubbed...

Truegrace
Reform
Hoped for
More Mercy
Restore

Another family's four were

Return
Believe
Tremble
Increase"

*It kind of reminds me of today's Honor, Cadence, Noble, etc etc trend.

Birth announcements. )

so i have recently started to fall harder for the name anna and would be fine using it on its own, but i am just curious to look into other options for an extended version...

i dont like anastasia. i hate breanna. i love annabel. i think annelise is pretty.

what do you think of annarose? anna rose? one word or two? i am leaning toward one word. i know its kind of a smushed together thing, but it reminds me of names like sarabeth, which is a perfectly valid name, right?

just random thoughts. would love to hear what you guys think.

...but I'd still like to jump on the bandwagon!  :)

What would you expect the children of Hilary and Adam to be named?

Our naming styles are very different so it's hard to find names we agree on, esp. for girls.

I tend to like Irish/Celtic/Gaelic names. Some of my favorite names are Siobhan, Conner, and Malachy.

What are some of your favorite names that are Irish?

My two top favourites are Olive and Beau. But they're also the names that I have the hardest time coming up with middle names that actually sound nice with them. So, what do you think people? Any ideas? I'm not really looking for opinions on the actual names, because no, I do not like Olivia, just lists of names that would sound nice to get some ideas.

I think that my taste in boys names tends to be a bit more traditional, while for girls, it's kind of eclectic. Right now, I'm on Olive Blake; I've never had an idea for Beau.

There really is no rush, I'm just one of those people who just loves names without being anywhere near having babies to use them on.

My cousin's son is about to be a big brother, thanks to his mother and her new husband. I guess baby's gonna be a girl and her name will be Emma Katherine. My cousin's son is Landon Anthony David, so what do you all think of that sibset?

Pick 10 boy and 10 girl names that most characterize your style/are your favourites. Others will comment with adjectives that describe your name style/their opinion of it (example: classic, trendy, fantastic, terrible, etc.)

Have at it!

(Mine are in comments.)
