thanks. My husband and I (he begrudgingly) are kinda starting from scratch on girls names. We had a combo he loves but I am over it.
I emailed him a list of girls names from which he said he could maybe deal with Leah(LAY-uh), Naomi and Violet. I proposed Simone as a middle name, since that's a name we both think goes with just about anything. He said with Simone he liked Leah or Violet. I think Violet Simone is the better combo of the two, hence my post.
Thanks. I'm not one to try and get my way completely with names but he threw out our agreed upon boy's name (which I still love) and came up with a new one, which I agreed to. So I think I should get a little more say with the girl's name, lol.
:) It's not mispronounced. That is the original Hebrew pronunciation. It is my Husband's Bubbie's Mother's name. However, I am aware most people pronounce it LEE-uh with that spelling, which has why I hesitate to use it.
Oh I know. :) It's a valid pronunciation in and of itself. Just like Erica and Ericka are valid spellings of my name, but that doesn't mean they're correct ways to spell it when addressing me.
Don't take this the wrong way, as I am sorry people say your sister's name wrong all the time, but it actually gives me hope that if we use the name that people will say it with the pronunciation we mean...does that make any sense?
Well, I don't actually like the name Simone, but the two names don't really seem to go together in my head. They're like, two completely different styles. It flows nice, I just think they're mismatched.
Actually, I think that it does. The styles match a little bit better, to me anyway, but what the heck do I know?, and I think that Leah just sounds prettier with Simone than Violet.
Well, they're both Hebrew names so I can see how they could mesh better together. I just like Violet more as a first name, I think, lol. Coming up with names is harder now that I'm actually pregnant, sheesh
Ooh, I really love it. I think it would flow equally well with Violet or Leah, actually. Sounds good either way--I think I like Violet Simone a little better.
I like Leah Simone better, but I'd consider spelling Leah differently to get the sound you are going for. Most people are around to say "lee-uh" first and I can imagine that would get extremely old.
