I hope this hasn't been posted here, but with talk of the popularity of Irish names of late I thought some of you might like to see this site-- it gives the correct pronunciation of 200 popular Irish names. I think it's neat.

My mom works as a preschool teacher and one year she had this really adorable little girl named Ama (pronounced AH-ma). Anyway, the name is of Ghanaian origin, and its meaning is "born on Saturday." I've always sort of liked the name.

WDYT?

Also, since it's Ghanaian and I'm...not, do you think it'd be odd to name my child this?

I was just thinking of this book I had when I was little.
It was titled Chrysanthemum and was about a little mouse who had the name Chrysanthemum and when she went to school for the first time everyone made fun of her because of her strange name. "She's named after a flower. Let's smell her." Then a dance teacher comes to the school named Delphinium and all the girls love her and since she too is named after a flower they stop making fun of Chrysanthemum.

My aunt and uncle got it for my cousin Rhiannon when she was little and then she gave it to me...my name's not different but I just loved the story.

I work at a newspaper. These are the names of kids that sent in letters to Santa for our Christmas issue. Sib sets are on the same line.

Totally unrelated, the names of me, my siblings (including step), and my first cousins.

I feel like I've beat this topic to death, but I'm slightly neurotic, so I'll beat it to death with my own shoe.

[Poll #1105569]

Also, can anyone think of some names that would sound good with Lola as a middle name?

Thoughts?

My husband and I have been trying to think of baby names and have come up with a few:

Girl:
Savannah Melinda
Jazilynn Melinda

Boy:
Zachary Michael
Zachary Damien
Zachary Taylor
Damien Michael
Damien Zachary
Damien Taylor

Any thoughts or suggestions? I don't want to use Michael as a first name for a boy since that's my husband's first name.

Thanks.

A while ago everyone was posting links to a website that helped you pick names based on your current favorites. You entered the names you like in and new ones popped up. Does anyone remember this site? I can't recall what it was.

And: what names would you suggest if my favorites are:

Girls:
Anne (Hannah)
Elisabeth
Felicity

Boys:
John
Daniel
James
Cory
