I was just thinking of this book I had when I was little.
It was titled Chrysanthemum and was about a little mouse who had the name Chrysanthemum and when she went to school for the first time everyone made fun of her because of her strange name. "She's named after a flower. Let's smell her." Then a dance teacher comes to the school named Delphinium and all the girls love her and since she too is named after a flower they stop making fun of Chrysanthemum.

My aunt and uncle got it for my cousin Rhiannon when she was little and then she gave it to me...my name's not different but I just loved the story.

it's still a guilty pleasure name for me!

My daughter and I love that book! Especially since she's named after a flower, too (back before everyone and their brother started naming their kid Lily). :)

I loved that book, because the Chrysanthemum is the flower for my birth month.

Aw, I remember that book! It was really cute.

I remember that there was another book that our librarian read us in fifth grade about a girl named Velvet, I think. Everyone thought that it was really weird until they found out that her father picked the name because the mountains outside looked like velvet the morning that she was born. The reason was better than how I made it sound, but I still found it a poor reason to name a child Velvet.

My friend Lily has that, from back before Lily was so popular. I really liked it when I was little :)

I loved that book, but I'd never use the name Chrysanthemum.

But I love Rhiannon (I'm an obsessive Stevie Nicks fan), and I might use it as a middle name.
