OK, so my aunt and uncle are finding out tomorrow whether their baby is a boy or a girl.

They didn't find out for the first one (girl), found out for the second one to see if they would have to get all new colors of baby stuff (girl) and are finding out what this one is.

My mom's side of the family has a thing for J names. My middle name is Jaye, my oldest cousin's (on my mom's side) middle name is Joseph, his brother's name is Jacob, then there's Julian and the sisters of the baby-to-be, Josie and Jaya.

They visited my family this weekend and I was too ill to make the trip to visit at the same time so I didn't ask them if it will have another J name, but providing it does...

What J names do you like?

(Jinger doesn't count)

EDIT: It's a boy.

My favourite first/middle name combo is Theodore James.
My mother hates it because she says it reminds her of a chipmunk.

What names do you associate with people/characters/things?
Does this negatively influence the way you view the name?

This was prompted by an earlier post and got me thinking...

Megan
Meagan
Meaghan
Meghan

Any more variations? Which do you all prefer and how would pronounce each of them? Just interested in this name very much (I love the name Megan whoops! typo on the first one! especially, definitely on my top list) and would appreciate any feedback on it! :D

So I've become obsessed with The Shield, and when I was watching one of the episodes with commentary recently, Benito Martinez was talking about Camillia (pronounced kuh-meel-yuh) Sanes, the actress who plays his wife on the show. I don't know if I've ever heard this name on a person before, and it struck me as very pretty. I think I prefer the spelling "Camellia," though, like the flower. So I'm thinking of adding it to the list. My favorite names are those that are very rarely used but still sound like names, and I think this one fits the bill. The only problem I might have with it is that I definitely wouldn't want the nicknames "Cam" or "Cammy" to pop up (in large part because I dated a guy named Cameron/Cam for a long time, and that would be weird).

So what do you all think?

WDYT?

What do you think of the name Sigourney?

The husband mentioned it today as a name he would like (for one of our three due). I thought he was kidding around... but I guess he wasn't. And how would you personally pronounce it? Him and his friend are currently -- as in, right now, three feet behind me -- arguing over how it's pronounced.

I hate it. Very much so. I think Sigourney Weaver would be much better off with her real name, Susan. It's less confusing and more classic.

If you could name your kids anything, forgetting whether or not you know someone with that name, forgetting popularity, forgetting whether or not the name is "trendy" or "weird" or "kr8yv", what would your top 10 names for each gender be?  (Include middle names if you so choose, but it is not necessary).
