Camellia

So I've become obsessed with The Shield, and when I was watching one of the episodes with commentary recently, Benito Martinez was talking about Camillia (pronounced kuh-meel-yuh) Sanes, the actress who plays his wife on the show. I don't know if I've ever heard this name on a person before, and it struck me as very pretty. I think I prefer the spelling "Camellia," though, like the flower. So I'm thinking of adding it to the list. My favorite names are those that are very rarely used but still sound like names, and I think this one fits the bill. The only problem I might have with it is that I definitely wouldn't want the nicknames "Cam" or "Cammy" to pop up (in large part because I dated a guy named Cameron/Cam for a long time, and that would be weird).

So what do you all think?

I love names that end in -ia, especially -lia.
Camellia is lovely, however it reminds me a bit of chameleon..

My favourite names that is rarely used but still sounds like a name is Evelia. [ev-EEL-ia]

My little sister had a friend in kindergarten named Camelia. My mom really loved the name and I believe I, in private, called her Chameleon. I do kinda like the name now, but I don't like the name Amelia because the "meal" part reminds me of meal worms, so I don't know why I kinda like Camelia.

I, too, have grown a taste for the name Camellia as of late. And you can always use Mel for a nickname.

I like it. I actually went to high school with a girl named Camillia :) so to me, it's not weird at all. I think it's pretty and feminine without being over the top!

Mel could also be a nickname.

I love camellia flowers, and it makes a pretty name, though you more often hear Camilla instead.

What about Mila (MEE-la) for a nickname? Or Lia?
