So after a long time of judging everyone else's names in this community, I figure I'll throw out the names I've chosen too. 2 weeks ago I had my second, his first name is a name that I had recommended to someone in this community months before and thought, hey, that's actually a pretty cute name, so it went to the top of my list.

I have a nearly 4 year old son, named Treyton Alexander S.
nn is Trey

My 2 week old is Theodore Everett S.
nn's are Theo and Teddy.

(we weren't intentionally going for a "T" sibset theme or anything, that's just how it rolled, my girl name was Susannah)

I've been doing a lot of research on the name Jack as a nick name, and can't decide something. Most sources seem to say that Jack is a nn for John, and John is a nn for Jonathan, but Jack is NOT a nn for Jonathan.

WDYT?

If I want to call my kid Jack, can I name him Jonathan or should it be John?

ETA I personally don't like nick names as the main name, and the child would be named after my fil, who is a John. He's really a Yanni, because he's Greek, but he goes by John.

I've just joined this community and must say I am loving it!!  Thought I'd throw in the most unusual names I've ever come across.  During my time working a the local library I came across a family with four kids.  Their names were (wait for it....)

1. Flowing Dolphin
2. Tenami Nature
3. Creation Koala
4. Rainbow Butterfly

And NO, I am not making this up.  The family was quite new age and I somehow it suited them and the way they approach life.

Every Tuesday I tutor at an inner city elementary school, and some of the kids have really...interesting names. These kids are preschool to third grade, by the way.

Kiah (the "Ki" is pronounced like the beginning of Kyle. I would like it better spelled Kaia)
Sasha
Darquis (hard "qu", pronounced Darkees)
Antonio
Tevawn* (Pronoucned Tey-Vaun)
Jalynn (male, prn. Jay-LYNN)
Annaliyah (I admit, I think this is really pretty)
Taylor (f.)
Isis
Brandon
Rashad*
Kordell
Racinda*
Michael "MJ" (I think the J is for Junior, his father is called Michael too)

*= I'm not sure about the spelling, there could be random apostrophes or intercapitalizations in a lot of these.
