I find myself falling increasingly in love with the name Adresteia, particularly because of its meaning. I've decided to use it in a story I'm working on and am looking for middle name suggestions.

I suppose I should clarify that its for a woman, present day USA. Oh, and it should probably been more on the traditional, classic side...

Most Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans will already be well aware of this interesting name I heard today, but I figured I'd share anyway. While looking up Joss Whedon (the creator the show) on wikipedia, I found out that his real name is Joseph, but he's called Joss (sounds kind of like "Moss"). I think it's interesting; he's not a "Joe" type of guy, so it definitely fits him better.

It's not a nickname I'd ever use, as (a) I'm not a huge fan of the name Joseph, and (b) if I was, I'm quite partial to the nickname Joey. But I think it's kinda cool and unique without being totally weird, and it's a nice alternative to the usual Joe/Joey nicknames.

What do you think?

So, I'm not sure how many of y'all, Harry Potter fans or not, are aware that, in 2006, JK Rowling auctioned off an exerpt of the Black family tree (this one with DH spoilers). Personally, I find this tree fascinating, one of the reasons being that the Blacks have some incredibly beautiful and interesting names in their families. According to JKR, it was a Black family tradition for the children to be given names of either stars or constellations, though several people (especially descendants of disowned members) break this rule.

Anyway, this poll contains the first and (known) middle names of all known descendants of the Noble and Most Ancient House of Black. As such, it contains some major spoilers for Deathly Hallows, especially the epilogue.

A friend of mine called Alex has a sister called Jael.
He thinks it means precious in Hebrew but according to Behind the Name it means "mountain goat" lol.
What do you think of this name? How would you pronounce it?
I'm totally thinking of a mountain goat called Precious now but then I'm weird :).

Good Afternoon!

I'm naming a sibling set for a story that I'm working on and need middle name help. Two boys, two girls (no multiples). All were born in the seventies and the mom was on a greek mythology kick at the time.

In birth order:

Leander (nn Lee)
Chloe

Last name at this point is Harker.

Thanks in advance!

Ok so in one of my last posts I had  Carrie/Carey on my list...wanting to hear opinions on it.

And how i have another question.

Carey is my grandmothers maiden name and my parents thought about using it for me.,..but did not. I don't know if I would ever use the name bc ...well...idk if I love it or not. But I'm keeping it on the the list for now.

My question is...do you pronounced Carey and Carrie the same way?

personally I say Carey like Care-ee (the came care sound as in "to care for")
and I say Carrie very similar to Carry (like "to carry something")

(sorry for my odd pn explinations.

anyways how do u pronounce them both.

More names from the same Columbus hospitals for Aug. 4-6, 2007. The names along with my thoughts:

Aug. 4
Cheyin Keziah (I'm afraid that Cheyin is an alt spelling of Cheyenne, but Keziah is an old bilibical name that was popular among African American slaves during the early 1800's)
Kenna Christina (I don't like the K and C mix and Kenna, but I like Christina)
Sophia Grace (Pretty, but getting too popular)
Brazyn Thomas (Not sure where Brazyn came from, but I like Thomas)
Bryce Ross (Doesn't mesh well)
Katelyn Jane (I prefer this spelling of Caitlin)
Aynsley Gemma (Unique names should have the most spelling)
Maggie Rachelle (The styles of the names differ too much)
Austin Richard (Interesting mix)
Elijah William James (Too many names, but I like them all)
Julian Michael (I don't like either name)

Aug. 5
Chloe Mahogany (First name is okay, middle name is bizarre unless it's the mother's maiden name)
Rekiah Zara (Not really sure about this one)
Hayden Joseph (Decent)
Jazmin Alexis (Horrible spelling choice)
George (Classic)
Ephesians Ramesses Jhazear (I hope these are cultural)
Mason Lee (Cute)
Dane Samuel (Don't like this combination)

Aug. 8
Callum Jackson (I'm not really sure about Callum, but it's decent enough)
Christopher James (I like)
Cesar Issac (I think his parents are Hispanic)
Brayden Isaiah (Not too fond of either name)
Rayshawn Nii Adjetey (....)
Brady Ashton (A little surname heavy)
Taylor Maureen (Nice combination)
Jordin Michelle (Not sure about this one)
Mychal Shae (Um....)
Audrey Christine (Not bad and she's sticking out her tounge in the picture)
Westin Douglas (Not sure about Westin)
Liam Patrick (Very nice)
Adrianna Marie (good combo)
Lillian Frances (Old fashioned, but nice)
Kate Emioluwa (Love the first name and I think the middle is cultural)
Danica Lynne (Not bad)
Reece Morgan (Boy and it's okay)

Is there anyone on here that's a George R.R. Martin fan?

If you are, what are names you suggest from the books for both boys and girls? Because right now, I only have the girl combo and I'm not completely sold on it: Arya Daenerys.

wellsley?

My fiance and I went to a family reunion type party today for his side of the family, and we met some of his second cousins we haven't met before. The one that stuck out the most was a little girl named Wellsley. At least, that's how I'm assuming it's spelled. I think it could ALMOST work on a boy, but not as much on a girl [although she was incredibly adorable!]. What do you think? Boy, girl, or awful?
