Most Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans will already be well aware of this interesting name I heard today, but I figured I'd share anyway. While looking up Joss Whedon (the creator the show) on wikipedia, I found out that his real name is Joseph, but he's called Joss (sounds kind of like "Moss"). I think it's interesting; he's not a "Joe" type of guy, so it definitely fits him better.

It's not a nickname I'd ever use, as (a) I'm not a huge fan of the name Joseph, and (b) if I was, I'm quite partial to the nickname Joey. But I think it's kinda cool and unique without being totally weird, and it's a nice alternative to the usual Joe/Joey nicknames.

What do you think?

I love Joss. I think that's partly because of Joss Whedon and partly because the coolest tutor I had at uni went by Joss (although his name was Mark).

If I used it I think I'd just use it as is because Joseph has bad connotations for me.

I love the nickname Joss. I think it's a lot nicer than Joe, or Joey.

I love Joss Whedon, but don't like the name Joss because whenever I hear it/say it/think it my brain goes all "Stop mispronouncing Josh moron!" even though they're entirely different

My brain would like to take a moment and defend itself by saying that it's not usually that mean.
