Now it's all you guys' turn to give me your opinion on my list of girl's name I like (and in some cases, really like - see *). It's only fair.

Don't worry I won't be having any kids for ages, so you've got plenty of time to dissuade me from any of them that you think are hideous!

Boy's list up shortly.

I need ideas! First names to go with the middle name Lorane(not sure of the spelling we would use).

Ok..now I'm confused about middle names.

This is one of my first attempts to make combos...so im new at this.

I tend to like pretty classic/traditional/nothing too creative middle names.

Here are the combos I have come up with so far

Boys:
David William
Evan
Matthew
Max
Ryan
Sean Daniel

Girls:
Brooke
Isobel Faith
Jordana
Leah Noelle
Natalie Jean
Peyton Marie

Obviously some of them are missing middle names. I'm drawing blanks on those.

Daniel, Jean and Marie are all family names..and I really want to keep them on the list. However, if you think they go better wtih other names let me know.

Another family name I'd like to use is Katherine or Kathleen. Kathleen is my mom..but im not sure of how it goes with the names I picked so maybe Katherine/Kathryn would be a good alternative.

Thanks in advance...again

I've been thinking about names, and whether you can see unintentional trends in a group of family names. If I look at my immediate family, at first I notice nothing to suggest that our names are alike. Then of course I began to think. Ainsley and Tristan are Old English/Caledonian/Gaelic names. So is Shirley. My Uncle's name is Bradley, which solidifies the "----ley" name tradition in our family. On my father's side, you can kind of tell that he comes from quite a traditional English family. My mother is kind of the odd body; her names is quite French.

Can anyone else see unintentional trends in their family names? I don't mean of course assigning a traditional family name (such as in our case 'Ann') to your offspring. Rather, a strange use of alliteration or names from a certain area that you weren't at first aware of.

Hello all! I'm relatively new to this community. I've commented on a few other name lists, and I thought it was time to join in and post my own name list. I've been 'collecting' names since I was in primary school, doodling dream lists on the back of notebooks and in diaries. I have to say that a lot of names have come and gone (thank the heavens!) but I've stayed true to many of them. My absolute favourite names are bolded, however all the names have earned their place. I encourage feedback, and most of all suggestions of other names you may think I'd like (depending on any trend that may be apparent in my choices).. Also, if you know of a meaning for a name I haven't listed, I'd love to hear it!

Another note: I tend to favour classic names. Not common names so much, just classic or historical. I have a great love of Greek names, being a student of Ancient History, and I also find that I prefer the Italian version of a name much more than the standard (for example, Alessandra). My heritage to my knowledge is a blend of all things British, with some Prussian thrown in for good measure. In honesty, my ancestry does not play a huge part in the names I choose.

And a final note; I'm not expecting, and I don't have immediate plans for children. I do like to be ready though!

Thanks everyone!

There's a client named Crystal Berry apparently.

Makes me think of Amber Brown.

Can you think of any other names where the first name sounds more like an adjective of the last name?

What do you think of this name for a boy? Any other spelling suggestions/versions?

Every year, at the beginning of January, my newspaper does a round-up of all the babies born during the previous year (well, the ones whose parents submit them, I guess). It is truly a plethora of names, some good, some bad, and some downright insane.

I, being the name-obsessed person that I am, gathered all the data for the 2006 babies and posted it in my livejournal. I found it today, so I figured I would post it here as well.

Oh the humanity. )

Went a bit further a field this time and looked at the birth announcements from the local paper of the county next to the one I live in - I don't know whether this was a factor in why some of the names were a little bit more (and in some cases a lot) O.o than the last lot I put up.
Also, these go right back to February, which is why there is so many.

List! )

Too many Graces (5)!

What's your "short list" of favorite names for either gender? The ones you would be thrilled to use on your theoretical children?

Mine for girls:
Victoria Lee (Victora was my great-grandmother's name, Lee is my mother's middle name)
Bridget Theresa (Bridget is one of my favorite names, I like its meaning, and I used to work with a little girl named Bridget who was the light of my life. Theresa is my favorite cousin's name.)
Isabel Jaye (No real meaning here, I just love Isabel and like Jaye with it. I like Isabel Jade as well, but Jaye has fandom nerd appeal, and is obscure enough that no one will get that it's a nerdy thing...)
Catherine Alexandria (St. Catherine of Alexandria would be a pretty badass person for a little girl to be named after.)
Jessica Morning (This is a personal thing, I really can't say I like the name Jessica much objectively, but the meaning behind it makes me want to use it.)
Annabelle Rose (My mother wanted to name me Annabelle Lee, after herself in a way - her name is Ananda Lee - and call me Anna, and I think it's beautiful. I go back and forth with middle names, I like Kate and Sage as well, but I really love Annabelle Rose, even though Rose is a common middle name.)
Lily Kate (Kate is my middle name, and I like it with Lily, but I have so many potential middle names for Lily that I like just as well: Josephine, Gabrielle, Sage and Claire)

For boys:
Graden Patrick (Graden was my maternal grandmother's maiden name and I just love it, Patrick is my father's middle name.)
Liam Spencer (I would've been Liam Fletcher if I had been a boy. I hate Fletcher, which is my mother's favorite boy's name. Spencer is actually our cat's name, but I think it's a great name that works well with Liam.)
Lennon Michael (Lennon was my paternal grandmother's maiden name, and Michael was my paternal grandfather, who I don't think I ever met...there are about a million Michaels in my family, it's sort of a tradition.)
Stephen Fox (Stephen was my maternal grandfather's name, and I've been stuck on Fox as a middle name for Stephen ever since I was a teenage X-Phile. I don't think I'd use both Wolf and Fox, though. I suppose one would have to change.)
Brennan Wolf (No meaning behind this one, I just love both names.)
Jude Atticus (No real meaning here either, though I do like the Beatles, saint lore and To Kill a Mockingbird.)

I watched "cold case" today ...

there was a girl with the name RAINEY

WDYT ?

I knew a girl who was Jill Lynn (first and middle name), instead of Jillian. I also know a guy who is Ash Lee (first and middle name) instead of Ashlee/Ashley. Do you guys know of other combinations were the parents spilt up a normal name to make a first and middle name out of it?
