What's your "short list" of favorite names for either gender? The ones you would be thrilled to use on your theoretical children?

Mine for girls:
Victoria Lee (Victora was my great-grandmother's name, Lee is my mother's middle name)
Bridget Theresa (Bridget is one of my favorite names, I like its meaning, and I used to work with a little girl named Bridget who was the light of my life. Theresa is my favorite cousin's name.)
Isabel Jaye (No real meaning here, I just love Isabel and like Jaye with it. I like Isabel Jade as well, but Jaye has fandom nerd appeal, and is obscure enough that no one will get that it's a nerdy thing...)
Catherine Alexandria (St. Catherine of Alexandria would be a pretty badass person for a little girl to be named after.)
Jessica Morning (This is a personal thing, I really can't say I like the name Jessica much objectively, but the meaning behind it makes me want to use it.)
Annabelle Rose (My mother wanted to name me Annabelle Lee, after herself in a way - her name is Ananda Lee - and call me Anna, and I think it's beautiful. I go back and forth with middle names, I like Kate and Sage as well, but I really love Annabelle Rose, even though Rose is a common middle name.)
Lily Kate (Kate is my middle name, and I like it with Lily, but I have so many potential middle names for Lily that I like just as well: Josephine, Gabrielle, Sage and Claire)

For boys:
Graden Patrick (Graden was my maternal grandmother's maiden name and I just love it, Patrick is my father's middle name.)
Liam Spencer (I would've been Liam Fletcher if I had been a boy. I hate Fletcher, which is my mother's favorite boy's name. Spencer is actually our cat's name, but I think it's a great name that works well with Liam.)
Lennon Michael (Lennon was my paternal grandmother's maiden name, and Michael was my paternal grandfather, who I don't think I ever met...there are about a million Michaels in my family, it's sort of a tradition.)
Stephen Fox (Stephen was my maternal grandfather's name, and I've been stuck on Fox as a middle name for Stephen ever since I was a teenage X-Phile. I don't think I'd use both Wolf and Fox, though. I suppose one would have to change.)
Brennan Wolf (No meaning behind this one, I just love both names.)
Jude Atticus (No real meaning here either, though I do like the Beatles, saint lore and To Kill a Mockingbird.)

Louisa Margaret - I've always loved the name Louisa, and the only one I've ever known is this absolutely adorable 8-year-old girl who I had in day camp. She was British and the way her mom said her name was what made me fall in love with it. Plus, I just have such a positive memory of the name. Margaret is after my grandmother.
Juliet Adrienne - Again, Juliet is just a name I've always liked, and I guess it's a *little* after the Shakespearean character, but more for the Shakespearean connection than the character herself. Adrienne is after my best friend.
Amelia Eleanor - Amelia doesn't have any significance other than that I love it and I think it's a gorgeous name. Eleanor is after Eleanor Roosevelt.
Eliza Renee - I'm not 100% set on this name, but I do love the name Eliza. Renee is my mom's middle name.

James Michael - I love the name James, and I think it works on both a little kid and on an adult. I hate the nicknames for it, though, especially Jim and Jamie. Michael is after my brother.
Peter Timothy - Peter is yet another name I like, and I guess in a way it's in honor of both of my parents, which is kind of hard to explain. Timothy is after my dad.
Liam Atticus - I love the name Liam (no significance, really, other than that), and Atticus is after the character in To Kill a Mockingbird.
Seamus Brian - I love the name Seamus, although I'm not 100% set on this (I also like Ethan, Lucas, and a few others). Brian is after one of my very very very close friends.

Kaylea Renee' - (Pronounced Kay-lee, not Kay-lee-uh)This is the most meaningful of all my names. It's a combination of my mom's, my sister's, and my middle names. Kay, Lea, and Renee' respectively.
Ginevra Lily - Huge Harry Potter fan and this is an absolutely gorgeous name. I love the sound of Ginevra and Lily is just a beautiful name.
Normandy Ann - I'm a little obsessed with history (majoring in it to say the least,) and I think Normandy is a really pretty girl's name. Ann is a family name (grandmother, aunt, and cousin all have this as a middle name.) She would probably also be called "Normandy Ann" and not just Normandy. It's a bit of a thing with my family. We have Cheryl Ann, Linda Ann, and Katie Ann.
Finley Belle - Finley is a name I've always been fond of, but feel suits a girl more than a boy. Belle is after my niece (Annabelle) and Beauty and the Beast, which was always my favorite movie.

Tykin Douglas - Tykin came from a dream where I had a son with this name. At first, I hated it, but after telling my family about the dream, they always talk about the hypothetical Tykin. It's really grown on me, and they all say no matter what my potential first son's name is, they'd call him Tykin. Douglas is a family name on my boyfriend's side (his middle name, father's first name.)
Sirius Gene - Sirius is part of my Harry Potter craze, and a beautiful name. Gene is the best interpretation of a name that I can give to honor my father. His name is Patrick Eugene and I hate both of them. I do like Gene, though.
Atticus Willam - Atticus is from To Kill a Mockingbird, of course. Willam is after my grandfather, William Earl. It's just a little different, and I like it a lot better.
Cedric Bradon - Cedric is a beautiful name that also fits in with the Harry Potter theme. Bradon is a take off the name Brandon in honor of one of my cousins and one of my boyfriend's cousins.

Hahaha, I'm considering using the name William Atticus, so I love that you have the opposite on your list. I'm trying to decide between William and just the name Liam (I would call him Liam either way).

James Edward family names, and so classic together
Robert [Maiden name] also (obviously) a family name, and with lots of nn options
William Brighton I was super jazzed about Brighton, but now that I've heard other people like it, I'm afraid it'll just sound like another trendy made-up name, but we'll see
Isaac maybe with Norman or Henry?

Margaret Louise/Louise Margaret classic, family names with cute nns
Bridget Madeline? Bridget I'd love to use, but I haven't settled on a name I'd like to pair it with.
and the middle name Catherine but I don't know if I like it with Bridget. Maybe Margaret Catherine and Louise as a first name.

But I doubt I'll have that many children. Ha.

Beatrice Cathrine- Beatrice after several favorite literary characters, most notably Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing, Cathrine because it's a family name
Madeline Casey- This will be the name of my youngest. I know it's been said many time, but screw it, I'll keep trying until the youngest is a girl. I want to say "The smallest one is Madeline"! I'll adopt if I have to! As long as the adopted child has red hair! Casey is after my boyfriend, who both insists that his name is a girl's name and that he wants a child named after him (although I don't want anyone in my house with the same first name). If we don't work out Miss Madeline will be getting a new middle name. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY MY FAVORITE NAME

Joseph William- this is another name where the middle name is up for grabs. Joseph William is a very common name in my family (I have two cousins named Joseph William, JW IV and JW V), but my generation has taken to keeping Joseph and using something significant from the spouse's name as the middle name, which we might do.
Samuel John- Samuel after the prophet, plus Sam is an awesome character is so many stories. John is after my father.

Heck, we could pair John with Joseph and call him JJ.

Yep.

Simon Wade -- I've always loved the name Simon, it has always been on the top of my list. If I ever have a son it'll be Simon. Wade is something I picked up from the series 'Sliders'. I really liked it but I thought it fitted better on a boy and Simon and Wade go really well together. Or so I think.
Payton Paisley -- After my nephew whose name is Paisley Payton.
Sebastian Nobby -- Sebastian is one of my oldest brother's middle names, I really love it. And Nobby is my twin's name. I really want to name my son after my twin but Nobby doesn't fit with everything. And I guess it fits with Sebastian.

Joon (or June) Daveigh -- I really like Joon but I haven't decided yet on how to write it. Joon has something special, I actually find it more appealing than simply June. It also sounds a bit different.
Layla Billy -- I guess I only like it when it's pronounced the Belgian way. But I really like Billy for a girl, I hate it for a boy. I've only put Layla on the list three weeks ago.
Hermione Bethel -- Hermione is my grandmother's name and Bethel is my mother's name.
Dorcas Ariel -- My mother had a hard time deciding what to call me, it was between Dorcas and Sloane. She had already decided my twin was to be Nobby and she thought Sloane fitted better with Nobby than Dorcas did. Ariel is one of my middle names.

Lily Alice - My great-grandmother was Lilian Alice.
Elizabeth Maren - I love both of those names. Elizabeth has always been a must!
Merry Abigail - I've loved both names for a long time. Last year I had an amazing teacher named Merry so it's just added to my love for the name.
Madeleine Hermione - Madeleine is my name in French class and I love the way it sounds. Hermione is naturally from Harry Potter.

Harry James - Yes, it's from HP, but I love it!
Neville Jacob - They just go together nicely in my opinion.

I have loads of others, but these are the main ones!
