Mollie/Molly?

Which spelling do you prefer for the name? Molly or Mollie? I've been told by a few people it changes the "image" they get from the name. I tend to agree--I sort of like Molly, but it strikes me as almost mundane; while I find myself absolutely loving Mollie. What do you think?

i prefer molly. :)

Molly.

I might just be biased though...my niece's name is Molly. :)

Molly. I have always been a "y" kind of girl as opposed to "i" or "ie," plus Mollie will constantly be mistaken for Molly and need to be re-spelled.

Molly

I prefer the cleaner traditional spellings almost exclusively. Mollie isn't bad as far as creative spellings go, but I still prefer the most basic approach.

If you go with Mollie, she'll always have people misspelling it...but I think it's cuter so I'd go for it. My name is Rachel and people ALWAYS make it Rachael...and that's annoying but I still like my spelling better and am glad my parents chose it. So that's not enough reason to not name her that. :)

I love the spelling "Molly". It always seems so classic to me. You've seen it used in the "American Girl" book series, and I see it on many girls these days too. I always loved the classic spelling, although Mollie is a great version too.

Molly, though Mollie isn't bad.

Just for personal preference, I like Molly, Mollie looks strange to me for some reason. But I like it either way, it's not horrible or anything, I can SO see someone one day spelling it something awful like Maywliey. In the scope of 'alternate spellings' it's pretty normal.

I prefer Molly, but then, it's my name, so any other spelling would probably look strange to me. I think both are equally "common," and almost everyone misspells my name as "Mollie," so maybe Mollie is actually the "normal" spelling, I have no idea.

no matter which spelling you pick there are always going to be people who will misspell it...i like Mollie better but that's just the way i am

my daughters name is Jaeda and i didn't want to spell it as Jada because it just seemed to plain and simple...most people know how to spell her name but some people have spelled it as Jaida - and it took my husband about a year to get the spelling down :)

I like it spelled Mollie! Very cute and sweet!

I like Molly. Mollie is a fish. It's a very pretty little fish that likes salty water and does well in community tanks. :) Obviously I'm an aquarium person, so that's what I think of when I see "mollie".

Oh and I'm probably biased because my kitty is Molly and I love it just the way it is.

I like the Mollie spelling better. Maybe because my own name ends in -ie, but it's a little longer that way and seems less like a nickname and more like it's own name. I don't know, it's cute either way :o)

Molly..

Mollie just doesn't look right for some reason.

It's sort of like Jenny & Jennie I guess..
but my name is Jennifer and I go by Jenny.

Mollie.

And I've always had "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn"-esque fantasy of naming a girl Mollie Malone after the Irish song.

Molly Malone is a song about a hooker!

I like either, but I always feel sorry for Molly's who are named Molly. Same thing with Jamies. It's a nickname-name. I think Molly can be a nickname for Mary or Margaret or Mary Catherine.

I love Mollie. I only know Molly's but I have always thought the ie ending was lovely.
I'm Sophy, Yes Sophy with a y. It's quite unusual & although people are always spelling it with a 'ie' (which makes so much more sense i know!) I do quite enjoy having it spelt a little differently to other Sophie's.
