I REALLY love Linnea Zoe and Calista Sky the best...those two combinations are so enchanting!

Kaia Elodie has a strange sound to me. In my opinion they don't mix that well. :/

i like tabitha but not with joy.

[identity profile] coldheartedbabe.livejournal.com 2007-03-31 05:36 am (UTC)(link)
gabriel and gabrielle have two different sounds.
emmanuel and emmanuelle are so similar sounding.

I think it depends on what language is being used but I have heard them a couple of different ways.

Emmanuel (it is my boyfriend's name, he is Mexican) is prounced like "Ey-man-WELL" whereas Emmanuelle is not a Spanish (version of the) name and the only way I have heard it pronounced is "Ee-man-yu-ELL" or "Ey-man-yu-ELL." For English-speakers though, they will most likely pronounce both like "Eee-MAN-yu-wol."

How are you stressing the syllables in Iola? I just can't get past the IOL repetition (and also am worried that Violet is one of those trend setting celeb baby names).

Many of your others I love - but I hope you do already know that :)

Oh, I've never heard it pronounced with two - that's interesting! How many syllables do you say in Beatrice and Catherine?

Iola Violet- I put it to you that you stole this name from my top three! I've never seen Iola on anyone elses list. It's beautiful.
Ramona Sparrow- hate
Kaia Elodie- Elodie is quite quite, Kaia is a bit blah.
Tabitha Joy- hate
Lark Cecelia- Now Cecelia Lark I adore, it doesn't flow with Lark as he first name.
Emmanuelle Jane- really hate
Linnea Zoe- hate
Calista Sky- Sounds pretty.
Elsa Daphne- Not so keen.
Annabel Daisy- Love Anabelle. Daisy is nms.
Kaia Delphine- I like Delphine as a middle name.

:-) wouldn't matter if you did use it. It's not like I can copywrite a name!

[identity profile] anapology.livejournal.com 2007-03-31 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
PS. Violet is the only middle name I would ever use with Iola. & i'd only use Iola is I could use it with Violet. I think t's the most perfect combo in the entire world, it just rolls of the tongue.

I think Linnea sounds like a made up name. I met a girl named that and honestly thought her parents had made it themselves. And with Zoe I think it's too vowel-heavy.

[identity profile] neroli.livejournal.com 2007-04-01 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
If people think it's made up, you can always explain the history to them. Linnaea is the scientific name of a wildflower...

...and the flower was named in honor of Carolus Linnaeus, the 18th century naturalist.

(I actually don't know whether people are using Linnaea/Linnea in tribute to Linnaeus, in reference to the little flower, or just because they like it. But it has been used as a female name since the 19th century, which pre-dates the creation of most of the names people categorize as made-up.)
