so what were some names that your mother almost named you? if i were a boy, i'd have been called beau david and other girl names that mom wanted were rebecca colleen (becca) and betsy jeanne. she settled on traci jeanne because on the way to the hospital, my dad was singing a song called "traces of love" to calm her down. i think that him not letting her call me betsy is about the best thing he ever did for me!

I was verry close to being a Bridget. I always was glad I didn't get the double Br- Br- (my last name is Brown). So what do I name my daughter? Brenna Brown (Well, Brenna Rose was her full first name, but we called her Brenna).. lol.

My mother often called me Gertrude. My brother tells me she actually almost named me that.. I keep meaning to ask her if that's true.. yikes.

My husband was supposed to be a girl and would have been 'Amanda.' His little sister is instead.

i go back and forth. it wouldn't have been so bad now and i would probably like it as an adult. but i was such a little fat kid and betsy is so close to bessie that i'm sure i would have gotten a lot of cow comments, ya know. i had older brothers that were totally cruel.

my mom keeps suggesting betsy for this one due in july.

Ah, that sucks. I had similarly cruel brothers. I didn't have a good name to make fun of, but kids will make fun of someone any way they can. :(

I think Betsy is cute. Betty is cuter, though. Maybe a nice compromise for your little one?

i love the name betty! i suggested bettie (like bettie page) but my so doesn't agree. he hates all the names i suggest b/c he thinks they're "old lady names". like bettie...luci...alice...alberta (nn bertie...that's my 5 year old's suggestion...birdy blue broughton but i'd spell it bertie. i think it's really cute, bertie blue.) the only name my so has suggested is INDIANA and call her indie. omg..he's such a hoosier!
