I'm really curious as to what you guys think of the names

Esmé
Sorcha (SOHR-ra)

I personally like the latter better, but the former is pretty nice.

My mum says Sorcha is terrible, especially if you ever try to apologise to her.

I've always loved the name Esmé. Not too sure about Sorcha, though.

Sorcha can also be pronounced Sor-ka, though, and that would be the favoured pronunciation in some parts of Ireland. I quite like that pronunciation, but find Sor-ha a bit limp.

I think it's just regional variations - some parts will be more familiar with one pronunciation than another. I'd hazard a guess that places with a higher proportion of Irish speakers or more of a Gaelic influence would favour Sor-ha, as it looks like the more Irish pronunciation (like Meadbh/Niamh being Meve/Neve). That's just speculation, though.

If it's pronounced "Sore-ah" then WHY does there need to be a C in there?
Why not just... Sora?

I like Sora though, and Esme (little thingy on top of the E) is cute as well.

For me, Sorcha would sound like SOR-SHA. Which reminds me of slush, don't know why.

Sora is pretty, though. She was my favourite in Digimon. Had red hair ;)

I like them both. I would pronounce Sorcha as "Sorsha," but I'm not sure that's right.

I love them both but I prefer Esmé as Esmée. I think or Esmé as masculine.

Because I hate making mistakes

I went to primary school with a girl named Sorcha, and she pronounced it as SOH-RA-KA.

I heard Sorcha is said like SUR a kha.

We love Esme, probably going to use it as a middle name for our next daughter or save it as a first name for a third daughter. We want to put it with the first name we've picked out, but we like it so much we might rather have it as a first name. Sorcha is pretty, but I don't know if it goes well with English.. sounds like it'd be prettier in conjunction with a romance language.
