I swore I wouldn't do this
Jan. 17th, 2007 12:48 amless than 9 weeks to go. I thought we had at least decided on the first name. but now, I'm not feeling so sure. so here I am. again. it's late, so I'm keeping this simple.
Eleanor? Georgia? thoughts on either. ok. go.

Date: 2007-01-17 03:57 pm (UTC)Eleanor is my moms name.. and I've never liked it. *shrug* I am not a huge fan of the whole Elle, ellie craze either. I do like Nora as a nn but then I figure you'd have to use Eleanora and not Eleanor.
Georiga.. I knew a georgina and I didn't like her.. or her name. Everyone called her georgie and I just didn't like it at all.
Sorry to be such a downer on your names.
Maybe you can wait until the baby arrives and choose which name seems to fit her once she's born. :) Sometimes the name you pick out doesn't always fit once they are born.
Good luck!

Date: 2007-01-17 06:00 pm (UTC)That should be plan a MIDDLE NAME for both, not nickname.

Date: 2007-01-17 06:55 pm (UTC)But I say Georgia because Eleanor is more apt to get popular.
Ultimately, you have to go with your heart though.

Date: 2007-01-17 07:10 pm (UTC)it's all good. if we hall liked the same names it would be pretty boring. :)
and the nn Nora is one of the reasons I like Eleanor too. It wouldn't have to be Eleanora. and see, I don't mind Georgie.

Date: 2007-01-17 07:12 pm (UTC)really? I typically don't like names in either of those styles. I'm kind of the 'old lady names' type. But see, I knew an older woman who was like an extra grandma to me when I was little who was named Eleanor so that may be the reason I feel like that.

Date: 2007-01-17 08:22 pm (UTC)Georgie is actually an adorable nn for a kid IMO (I like "GiGi" too)...

Date: 2007-01-18 02:17 am (UTC)I used to go by Ellie quite a bit--it's a cute nick name. My friends now usually just call me El if they want my attention, as it's fastest to say.
Another thing to consider is that if there is another Eleanor in your child's class, she probably goes by a different nick name. I had an Eleanor in my ballet class for a couple of years, but I was Ellie and she was Nellie (only marginally better than the same name, but better all the same).
