I know I made a post similar to this a few days back, but I was wondering about which name you PREFERRED.

Beatrix
Beatrice

Personally, I am undecided.

Beatrix is beautiful because it is less common, and we all know Beatrix Potter. I don't like it though because it could be shortened to 'Trixie'.

Beatrice is lovely, but slightly more common, and to me has a more old-dumpy-lady feel to it.

I was named after the character Beatrice in Dante's Divine Comedy, who was Dante's guide through Paradise). She was also a real person named Beatrice Portinari, who lived from 1266-1290. As a sort of mythic figure, she appeared in a lot of Pre-Raphelite paintings.
I go by Bea, and I've always liked my name. Oddly enough, I have never met another Beatrice face to face, and I'm 34.
