We have settled on 3 main possibilities:

I like Joseph most but all of them are great!

[identity profile] lacuna.livejournal.com 2006-12-10 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
I love Isaiah and Joseph, but I think Luke probably goes better with Emmanuel.

I say that partly because there is such a strong religious connection between Joseph-as-father and Emmanuel-as-Jesus and between Isaiah and Emmanuel, as it's the book of Emmanuel which is believed by Christians to predict the coming of Jesus. (Sure, Luke features the nativity, but it's a less obvious link as there are so many more Lukes around than Isaiahs.) I see from your user-info that you're a committed Christian, so you've probably made that choice deliberately, in which case good on you. To err on the side of caution, though, I might be inclined to go for Luke.

I think for the sound of it I like Luke. Isaiah is lovely but I worry about the double vowels in the names.

As long as the initials don't spell out anything weird, I vote Luke.

luke!

[identity profile] space-monkey340.livejournal.com 2006-12-10 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
Isaiah Emmanuel. Luke is kind of plain, but Lucas Emmanuel is really pretty.

[identity profile] abandoneddream.livejournal.com 2006-12-10 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
I agree, in regard to Lucas...

[identity profile] thejoysofjess.livejournal.com 2006-12-10 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
I agree also. I like Lucas much better.

[identity profile] abandoneddream.livejournal.com 2006-12-10 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
1. Isaiah Emmanuel
-I love Isaiah! I just wish it wasn't so popular.
2. Joseph Emmanuel
-This name is alright. Very Christmasy.
3. Luke Emmanuel
-I've never cared for the name Luke. I don't know why.

[identity profile] namegirl.livejournal.com 2006-12-10 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
Isaiah or Luke.

[identity profile] arbus.livejournal.com 2006-12-10 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
i really like both isaiah and luke!

[identity profile] poespretty.livejournal.com 2006-12-10 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
I like Luke.

[identity profile] confusedanswers.livejournal.com 2006-12-10 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
Isaiah Emmanuel
Joseph Emmanuel
Luke Emmanuel

[identity profile] trissyd.livejournal.com 2006-12-10 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
Luke.

Sounds amazing with the middle name, and I'm bias because I suggested it :D! Either way, it isn't trendy like "Lucas" and it's "cutesy" enough for an infant, and strong enough for a grown man. Plus I think it goes well with your other kids names. :D!

[identity profile] lord-snot.livejournal.com 2006-12-10 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
Luke all the way.

[identity profile] twinklieetoes.livejournal.com 2006-12-10 06:34 am (UTC)(link)
i'm a LUKEer haha!
i agree with everyone else, it just goes with Emmanuel so nicely!

[identity profile] pap3r-heart.livejournal.com 2006-12-10 07:07 am (UTC)(link)
LUKE!!

[identity profile] levismommy.livejournal.com 2006-12-10 10:21 am (UTC)(link)
Definitely Isaiah but on my list for future sons I have it spelt Izaiyah or Izaiah....I like names spelt wierd.

[identity profile] kwpdb8.livejournal.com 2006-12-10 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Good job. Now your child will suffer by having to instruct people on how to correctly pronounce his name for all time.

[identity profile] levismommy.livejournal.com 2006-12-10 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I havent actually named my child that. Its just a name I like for future kids. Looking at the way I spelt those is comman sense on how to pronounce them so I am not worried about it. Although there are some pretty stupid people out there cause my sons name is Levi (like out of the bible or like the jeans) you would think people could pronounce it right but he has been called Levy before.

[identity profile] julieannie.livejournal.com 2006-12-11 06:16 am (UTC)(link)
Why would you ruin a perfectly good name when the pronunciation is the same? It doesn't make you special, it just makes you look uneducated.

[identity profile] rawness.livejournal.com 2006-12-11 07:19 am (UTC)(link)
It's not just about saying them as their seen, it's about spelling too. As in, everytime he says his name outloud, people are going to spell it Isaiah and it's going to be humiliated correcting them. I have an uncommon name. The kind where if someone heard it they thought they knew how to spell it but fucked it up...and if I had written it down they weren't sure how to say it. It was a miserable, horrible expirience and led to me changing my name *shrug*.

I'm not saying you have to name your kid Bob or Julie, but Isaiah is a different enough name without misspelling it. And yes, Izaiyah is a misspelling, not an "alternative" spelling (i.e. Jillian, Gillian = names with alternative spellings).

[identity profile] o-honeybee-o.livejournal.com 2006-12-10 11:33 am (UTC)(link)
Isaiah - this is cute and it's not too popular either which is a plus.
Luke - This name is so simple yet it's so handsome IMO, i love it. I also like Lucas and Luca
Joseph - I was never really a fan of Joseph, but i know a cute little kid with this name and it's grew on me. He goes by Joe which i LOVE.

Haha so i wasn't much help, but all your choices are grear. Good luck

[identity profile] krosp.livejournal.com 2006-12-10 12:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Joseph is my favourite boys name ever, but I think Luke goes best with Emmanuel, because the name Emmanuel has too much potential to sound "over the top religious", and together with Isaiah or Joseph it may just be a little too much... but actually they'd all be lovely names

[identity profile] smileygoldfish.livejournal.com 2006-12-10 04:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Bible names!

I agree on using Lucas instead. But that's what I's choose

[identity profile] smasharash.livejournal.com 2006-12-10 05:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Luke!
Or Isaiah.
But not Joseph!

[identity profile] myfriendjenny.livejournal.com 2006-12-10 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I like all three.. but I am going to have go to with Joseph.

[identity profile] straight-outta.livejournal.com 2006-12-10 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
i vote isaiah!

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_xasphyxiax_/ 2006-12-10 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I like Isaiah

[identity profile] so-there.livejournal.com 2006-12-10 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Isaiah Emmanuel is too much of a mouthful

one of the other two. though Joseph goes with your "6 letters for boys names" trend :) and it doesn't have to be Joe or Joey, my brother has a friend who was just plain Joseph all the way up until he decided on his own to be Joe when he was 12 or so.. his brother James is still James, though, not Jim or Jimmy.

[identity profile] septembergrrl.livejournal.com 2006-12-10 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I like Luke best of those three, Joseph second-best.

[identity profile] sherball.livejournal.com 2006-12-11 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
while I really like all of the names you have posted. I like Isaiah the best, then Joseph, then Luke (prefer Lucas as a whole name with luke as a nn)

[identity profile] glitterberrys.livejournal.com 2006-12-11 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
I think Isaiah or Joseph sounds best with Emmanuel. Luke is my favorite of the three, though. What's the last?

[identity profile] thunderofsins.livejournal.com 2006-12-11 02:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I think Joseph is the only one that goes well with Emmanuel.
