My due date buddy on babycenter has an almost 4 year old daughter. Her name? Brandon Eleanor. WTF? Why are mothers doing this to their little girls?!

And on another note, 4 people in my july 2007 birth club are already planning on using Nolan, and it's really bumming me out!

I went to high school with a girl name Brandon. It wasn't an issue for her and no one gave her any grief about it. She liked how it made her unique.

I don't like obvious male names on girls either, but the upside is that at least sometimes it doesn't cause a lifetime of misery for the child.

We didn't have a lot of boy Brandons where I grew up so I guess that helped somewhat.

I had issues when I realized how many people were using the name Aiden. Of course, I was had my heart set on using it eventually, but then decided it was becoming too common.

I know someone that named one of their daughters Tommy, and the other one Teague Ryan. At first, I thought those names were cruel to their kids, but those two names have completely grown on me and I love them.

However, Brandon Eleanor is awful.

Back when I was a teenager, I liked Brandon for a girl, although I liked it spelled Brandynn or something like that. I'm over it now.

I loathe boys names used for girls (except Adrienne, but at least it's spelled differently right?)

My thoughts exactly. I'm waiting for a little Ferrars Marianne or Willoughby Lucy now.

I've only ever met one Nolan. I think its a nice classic name and you should be fine. Did you mention it first? That's why I'm skittish to mention my names because as ridiculous as it is, I'd be really upset if someone snatched them up.

I know, I'm kind of glad that I am ending up with two girls and no boys. makes that kind of issue a little less to worry about since the borrowing of names tends not to go the other way.

I agree about people being influenced by other member's tastes. I know that even without 'meaning' to, I've completely changed how I feel about certain names after other people pointed things out about them that I'd never thought about.

I say still go with Nolan. It can't be nearly as common as your birth club is making it seem. Also, many of those people could change their minds.

How did you get a birth club? I'm on a expecting club forum but that's it. I need to look online for more pregnant women in Feb.

And yah Nolan is a pretty popular name these days.

i don't mind it too too much... i'd rather it Brandyn, or something that (when someone is reading it) might make it seem a little more feminine.

Wow!! Where did they get Brandon from? That is so awful. Eleanor is awesome though, I hope she goes by that when she's old enough to make a distinction.

Are the 4 people using Nolan for a boy or girl? Were you planning on using that for a boy or something? I'm surprised that many people want to use it.

I used to babysit three kids: Flannery (girl), Killian (girl), and Parrish (boy). ::shakes head:: And then a pair of little girls named Ashton and Kerrigan.

I was going to use Nolan with my first, but I had a girl instead. I named her Audrey.

They both mean 'strength' and I liked that.
