My due date buddy on babycenter has an almost 4 year old daughter. Her name? Brandon Eleanor. WTF? Why are mothers doing this to their little girls?!

And on another note, 4 people in my july 2007 birth club are already planning on using Nolan, and it's really bumming me out!

I went to high school with a girl name Brandon. It wasn't an issue for her and no one gave her any grief about it. She liked how it made her unique.

I don't like obvious male names on girls either, but the upside is that at least sometimes it doesn't cause a lifetime of misery for the child.

I think it's awful! I had so many male friends named Brandon growing up, and a few now. If my name were a boy's name, I think it would make me feel like my parents wanted me to be a boy.

I asked her why she named her daughter Brandon, and she said it's her favorite name, and she wanted to name her first child Brandon no matter what.

We didn't have a lot of boy Brandons where I grew up so I guess that helped somewhat.
