French names
Nov. 1st, 2006 10:30 pmI met a family from France today and the children were named:
Charlotte
Clemence (Clay-mohnce... the "n is very soft)
Etienne (Ay-tee-ehn)
They were lovely. What are your favorite french names, and which ones do you hate?

I really dislike Margaux (but like Margot) and Cyrielle... those are the two I can think of off the top of my head. I would like Amélie, but it's used far too frequently as a pretentious baby name in the U.S. for me to be wholehearted about it.

Date: 2006-11-02 09:31 pm (UTC)But the question was which French names do you like and since i loved the name Millau due to the French city, i figured it is a French name. :)

Date: 2006-11-03 08:22 pm (UTC)Etienne is my favorite (my Italian advisor, who is actually French, has a grandson named that), but I also like Charlotte, Colette, Chantal, Madeleine, Sebastien, Lucien, Margot, Laurent, Xavier and Alexandre. I also like a lot of names with Jean- as sort of a prefix. :)
