I see Madelyn, Madeline, and Madeleine as different names. Madeline to me sounds like line, -lyn sounds like lynne, and -leine sounds like "lehne" (kind of layne).
same here! i've always said madeline as MAD-uh-line, madelyn as MAD-uh-lihn and madeleine as mad-uh-LEEN or mad-uh-LANE. my mom, on the other hand, insists they're all MAD-uh-lihn. lol.
silly mom! they are totally different! my husband and I are big on all things French. Madeleine was our choice for a girl name for a long, long time, but we had so many hem-and-haw sessions over the potential for mispronunciation. and we weren't willing to change the spelling.

That's why I won't use the name Jeanne on a girl in the US. Everyone would say it like the pants or make it into separate syllables... but it's pronounced Zhahnne! :(
