Yes.. I'm pretty much stuck on Cheyenne.
I still can't find any middle names for it though.
Any ideas would be awesome thanks.
The last batch wern't what I was looking for, so any new comers feel free.

A girl I know wants to name her son Maximillion
What do you think?
Personally .. I don't like it.. at all.
Maximus in my opinion would be a cuter Max name.

i think using a tribal name such as cheyenne is offensive because the traditional native american meaning of the word is in regards to an entire group of people and it's hardly a tribute to tack such a powerful word on someone as an individual. there are other native names that have meanings outside of being an entire tribe of people that are more suitable, in my opinion.

of course, it's your child and your decision and you're free to use whatever you want. i do like the aesthetic of cheyenne. it sounds beautiful and looks as nice written. :D

yeah, i totally see what you're saying. i'd much rather see it spelled cheyenne than something creative because then it would get spelled wrong all the time anyway, ya know? i say if you want to use it, you should.

i figure no matter what you choose, someone somewhere will have issues with it. i'm choosing a french name for my daughter even though i'm not of french descent so i get a lot of crap about that. i just shrug it off. ;)

madeline, with the traditional french pronounciation. i'm in love with it. my son's name is noah, which is obviously a very traditional bibilical name. people automatically assumed i'd choose another hebrew name for this baby but whatever. i dig madeline. :D

I absolutely dont disagree with you on the idiocy of people getting upset because she wants to use a french name, but I thought I'd point out that I got ripped a new sphincter by a couple of people because I dared mention that I liked a name that was Hindi/Arabic in origin. I was told it was "cultural misappropriation" for a lil white girl such as myself to use a name of an ethnicity besides my own....... silly people indeed=)

Well, technically, anglo-saxon people all potentially share a bit of European culture. But it is stupid. I just don't think it's right when you use a religious name or a name from a culture that has been misappropriated by others to an extreme.

Out of curiousity though... what name was it? And I'm going to assume it was two names, because Hindi and Arabic are two different things.

The name was Mitanjeli and I used Hindi/Arabic because all I really remember was that a professor I had in college used it and it was from India. I know it means "sweet handful of blessing from the Lord" but I'm a little less sure of which language it means that in, I THINK Hindi.
