I just wanted to know what y'all think of the name Daisy Mae. It's presently my first choice for a girl's name. A few of my friends have expressed disdain.
it sounds like the name of a pet or a small child. i can't imagine myself taking a grown woman seriously who was named daisy. it just doesn't sound right. i do love the middle name mae, though. my top girls name is elliot mae. :)
what's wrong is being a cunt on an internet blogging site about a name without knowing WHY it's being used. it's a family name. there are several females in my family with the name and i'd love to carry the tradition down another generation. get over yourself.
well, that's your opinion. there are ways to share it that don't make you look asinine, though. when you're dealing with total strangers, it makes sense to use some tact, does it not? coming right out and being a bitch about it doesn't cast a good light on yourself.
and i would say you could have done yourself a favor and not commented because nobody thinks it's cute or sassy to start e-drama with strangers. sorry.
hahah. you're a real winner. i didn't start anything. someone [who, strangely, seems to be a buddy of yours] came out and made a rude remark regarding a name choice of mine and i responded. do you realize how silly you look in all of this? if not, forgiven. you're obviously not the coldest beer in the fridge.
Um... I so don't want to get involved with this, but don't you think you're over-reacting a little? Part of blogging is to express your opinion, so I don't know why you're behaving so negatively when someone has expressed their opinion about your name choice. If you want to name a girl Elliot, then go ahead. It's not like we random internet losers can have any real say in your children's names.
whats so wrong about it? there are many many many female names that were originally boys names, or are typically masculine names elsewhere in the world.
Kinda like pronouncing something in a way that it would never normally be pronounced and then your kid having to constantly explain how to say his/her name.
i wouldn't stress it. if you like it, use it. nobody likes any of the names i had picked out for my first child OR my second one but whatever. your baby, your choice.

Date: 2006-08-08 12:10 am (UTC)I understand the tradition thing, but it's just wrong to me. Whoever thought of it is who I should be upset at I suppose.

Date: 2006-08-08 12:14 am (UTC)I just feel bad that a girl is always going to be assumed to be a boy when someone sees the name written down.
