Zoe Jacklynn update

The baby is now three weeks old and they've changed their mind about the spelling of the middle name (which most of you didn't like). The new spelling is Jaqualin.

Zoe Jaqualin Stowe

better, worse, or just screwy in a different way?

my initial thought is that the new way is going to be harder for her to learn to spell, but it does look more feminine.

i hate that spelling of jacqueline sorry:(

[identity profile] cherryrider.livejournal.com 2006-07-24 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I would have went with Zoe Jaclyn.

I adore it.

i think jaclyn looks like jace-lynn (jace like the first syllable of jason).
and jaqualin looks like jah-qwah-lin
and jacquelin is the only way i'd spell it.

but for me, it was the first name rhyming (almost) with the last name that was awful. i didn't have too much ofa problem with her middle name. :P

ditto this, that's the first thing I thought too...

[identity profile] miss-tee.livejournal.com 2006-07-24 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
worse!

[identity profile] elemmennope.livejournal.com 2006-07-24 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it was better before.

What do they have against Jacqueline?

[identity profile] jenniferdunn.livejournal.com 2006-07-24 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Worse. In every way, shape & form.

The street I grew up on was Jacqueline.. so I have a hard time accepting it any other way. Jaclyn is not bad though.

Jacklynn was 'different' and a bit of an annoying spelling. Jaqualin looks more like 'Ja-kwa-lin' instead of 'Jac-uh-lin' or 'Jac-lin' and is just bad IMO.

[identity profile] bloomingtulip.livejournal.com 2006-07-24 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I like Jacklynn. Jaqualin just seems wrong somehow, at least Jacklynn led to the most common pronunciation.

I dislike Jaclyn too.

[identity profile] sayga.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
ah, yes, i also like Jacklynn as an alternative spelling.

[identity profile] cocinadelfeto.livejournal.com 2006-07-24 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I want to say that Joaquin. Bad bad bad.

[identity profile] imyourrapunzel.livejournal.com 2006-07-24 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Worse! I think Jacqueline is the best way. But Jacklynn is okay too, not really my style but it makes sense.

[identity profile] maude.livejournal.com 2006-07-24 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Still hate it.

[identity profile] maude.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)
All new babies look like frogs to me...no offense meant at all, I'm sure when I have a kid they'll try to hand it to me and I'll be like, "Eww! What is this gross thing?!" lol.

[identity profile] ewaeva.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
Much, much worse. The last one was a little tacky, but not so bad - this one is arbitrary and ridiculous and strange-looking and may confuse people tryint to pronounce it.

It's JACQUELINE. What is wrong with the proper spelling??

[identity profile] dazeydevyne.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
I completely agree.

[identity profile] ewaeva.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 01:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, Madelynne doesn't look strange and won't cause pronunciation confusion. I always prefer classic spellings, but I think Madelynne is all right.

But actually, I think there _is_ something wrong with the alternative "Jaqualin." It's random and odd-looking and confusing. I really think that in this case Jacqueline looks the most beautiful and will be the smallest PITA in terms of spelling and pronunciation.

But to each their own. Zoe's awesome :)

[identity profile] ewaeva.livejournal.com 2006-07-26 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
pain in the ass.

[identity profile] heyitsrebecca.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
Jacklynn and Jaqualin are two different names, there's no proper phonetic way possible that they could be pronounced the same.
Not only that, but Jaqualin looks like Juh-quall-inn.. which I think was already stated.
I liked the first one better. =/

[identity profile] sarahrose.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
I like it better!

[identity profile] arbus.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
as awful as jacklynn was, this is worse because now it just looks like they didnt know how to properly spell jacqueline.

[identity profile] ewaeva.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 01:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I understand/read some Ukrainian, and that is not possible. That spelling makes no sense in Ukrainian.

[identity profile] arbus.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 02:19 pm (UTC)(link)
i agree. i wasnt inferring that anyone was wrong, and most certainly not ignorant! she asked what we thought and my thoughts were that it looks worse than jacklynn (even though i really didnt like that one) and that it looks like a misspelling of jacqueline. thats it. i have no judgment really on what people name their kids, as i am fully aware i have zero bearing on the outcome and also have absolutely nothing invested. if theyre happy with it, thats great, and all that matters. she asked for our opinions, and i chimed in. no harm done, imo.

thats a good point about her being ukrainian, i had forgotten that piece.

[identity profile] mrsduryee.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
yah...good thing middle names are rarely written out.

[identity profile] bree019.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
Just switch the a to an e. Jaquelin. Not all better, but a vast improvement.

[identity profile] krosp.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 01:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree wholeheartedly with that. It's the 'a' that irks me too

[identity profile] sotypical42483.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 04:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I do like it a bit better than Jacklynn, but I still don't really care for it. I think they should've used this opportunity to realize funky spellings aren't all wonderful and switched to the regular spelling. Oh well!

[identity profile] mrsduryee.livejournal.com 2006-07-25 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't like either one, but Jacklynn gets the correct pronunciation out of me. I want to say Ja-kwuh-lyn with the new spelling

I agree with an above poster that if the a were an e I would pronounce it correctly.

And she is adorable!

I really adore Jacqueline, and I think Zoe Jacqueline is great. One would think, if they can't figure out Jacqueline, then Zoe isn't going over super well either...

[identity profile] aymen.livejournal.com 2006-07-26 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
I like it. :)I like different spelling of names. Either way, she's gorgeous!!
