1. What is your preferred spelling of /Lee/? I always think of Leigh for a girl and Lee for a boy. But I'm sure you could write Li, Lei, Lea, or other possibilities. What seems "normal" to you?

2. How do you feel about nicknames? My husband is a "my name is Daniel, NOT Dan, thankyouverymuch" kind of person. He believes you should name the child what you plan on calling it (if you want to call your kid Tim, name him Tim and not Timothy). I'm on the other side. I wish my name (Sarah) had an obvious nickname, because I think nicknames are friendly and/or intimate. Where do you stand?

3. What do you people DO all day? This is the most active community I've ever been in. ;)

Sadie and Sally are both traditional nicknames for Sarah. Perhaps one of those will appeal?

Yeah, see, I know Sadie and Sally are traditional nicknames, but they're not really obvious. Hard to explain. It's just not natural for Sarah to become Sadie. I don't know. While they are technically nicknames for Sarah, it doesn't make much sense, at least to me. Sadie with that hard D sound from Sarah? Sally with the L's? It just doesn't make sense to me.

I agree. I feel like Sadie and Sally are really more stand-alone names. I wouldn't be SURPRISED if someone said it was a nickname, but... well, yeah. I can't be a Sadie or a Sally. I'm thinking of a Sarah-nickname more along the lines of Sar. But that's just weird and hard to say (and no one would expect it). Not like say, Jen for Jennifer, which is pretty obvious.

Yeah, exactly. I get "Sar" sometimes, pronounced like rhyming with hair. But yeah, totally. (My best friend is Jen, lol)

My sister is Jen. Or Jenny. Or Jenjen. She has so many nicknames.

Then again, she has enough natural nicknames that people rarely get creative and make up a non-jennifer nickname. To compensate for the lack of a natural nickname, I got the nickname Sayga (my username). But no one uses it now, it was kind of a high school thing (that I miss).
