So I'm sure everybody here already knows this about each other, but I'm new, and I'm bored, and I want to know your name.

Mine is Laura Lynn. My parents named me Laura Lynn and called me that for a while, then it got shortened to Laura when I started school, and now in some circles it's Laura and in others it's Laura Lynn. I prefer Laura Lynn; I'd rather not think about my name in separate parts, because then I hate my boring-ass middle name. If I think of it as one name, then I think, "Aw, how cute and alliterative."

Your turn.

Sarah Katharine. Only I was called Sarah Kate throughout my early years in school. I HATED my name "Sarah" because everyone was named that. But Sarah Kate was too babyish and I dropped it when I was about 10. And I dropped Katharine when I got married. So now I guess I'm just Sarah. I still don't like my name.

Sarah and Abraham? I've never found anything spectacular there. My neighbor has a dog named Sarah and a cat named Abraham, and a son named Isaac. Random fact, but it seemed relevant.

well, she also has 2 kids named owen and brenden, and a dog named sam (samantha) and a cat named archie. so she does use other names. it is odd that the ones she chose from the bible were all from the same family in the bible.

The promises God made to Abraham and Sarah are still being fulfilled today. Sarah carried the weight of His greatest promise, and though she failed first (by giving her husband to Hagar), He still chose her to bear Isaac and make Abraham the father of the nations. Sarah represents God's love for us, His promises and the joy He takes in us!

there've been two comments on this thread by other people knowing a sara(h) c/katherine...that's one of the reasons i've always disliked my name. it seems that most people i talk to have known a sarah katherine or a sarah mitchell at some point in their lives. blah. plus, with the maiden name Mitchell, it made my name *so* common. there was another sarah mitchell in my high school. i even got mailed her report cards sometimes (she only lived about a mile away).

I hear you. Mine name is Jennifer. I once spent three weeks straightening out a problem where my paychecks were being deposited in the account of a different Jennifer with the same last name as me. At my university there were 6 of us with the same fn/ln combo. Fortunately, I was saved there by having something other than Lynn or Ann as my mn. The other 5 all had that in common too.

This is why I'm against popular names, especially if the last name is at all common.

me too. my husband's name is daniel. both of our names have been in the top 20 names for the last like 30 years. in my 8th grade science class there were 6 other sarahs (out of a class of 30).

in high school, i loved the name Adan (both if it were pronnounced AY-dan or the Spanish ah-DAHN), but now I just won't name a kid that. it's sad; i've liked the name for years, but i just couldn't bring myself to use it now.

My parents got their baby-sex tests swtiched with another lady, so I was a complete surprise. They didn't want to mutate the boys name they had chosen (Christopher John) so they waited a couple of days to name me : )
