So I'm sure everybody here already knows this about each other, but I'm new, and I'm bored, and I want to know your name.

Mine is Laura Lynn. My parents named me Laura Lynn and called me that for a while, then it got shortened to Laura when I started school, and now in some circles it's Laura and in others it's Laura Lynn. I prefer Laura Lynn; I'd rather not think about my name in separate parts, because then I hate my boring-ass middle name. If I think of it as one name, then I think, "Aw, how cute and alliterative."

Your turn.

there've been two comments on this thread by other people knowing a sara(h) c/katherine...that's one of the reasons i've always disliked my name. it seems that most people i talk to have known a sarah katherine or a sarah mitchell at some point in their lives. blah. plus, with the maiden name Mitchell, it made my name *so* common. there was another sarah mitchell in my high school. i even got mailed her report cards sometimes (she only lived about a mile away).

I hear you. Mine name is Jennifer. I once spent three weeks straightening out a problem where my paychecks were being deposited in the account of a different Jennifer with the same last name as me. At my university there were 6 of us with the same fn/ln combo. Fortunately, I was saved there by having something other than Lynn or Ann as my mn. The other 5 all had that in common too.

This is why I'm against popular names, especially if the last name is at all common.

me too. my husband's name is daniel. both of our names have been in the top 20 names for the last like 30 years. in my 8th grade science class there were 6 other sarahs (out of a class of 30).

in high school, i loved the name Adan (both if it were pronnounced AY-dan or the Spanish ah-DAHN), but now I just won't name a kid that. it's sad; i've liked the name for years, but i just couldn't bring myself to use it now.
