Ok, so what do you guys think about these names?

Delaney

MacKenzie

I'm stuck on girl's names. I can't think of any good boy names - I want something that's not incredibly common, but not something REALLY out-there either. Help????

Ridiculous. I'm surprised they're even names.

They aren't my style. MacKenzie is too popular and Delaney is more of a boy name to me.

For boys or girls? Delaney on a girl is a GP of mine, but I think it sounds more masculine. I LOVE Mackenzie (don't like the capital K in the middle) on a boy, but can't stand it on a girl. It's very trendy and doesn't even make sense to be a girl's name.

Hate MacKenzie...no matter how it's spelled.

Delaney is an odd name, but I have a friend with a little girl named Delanie and she's adorable so the name is cute; and the spelling is MUCH better without the 'y'

Laney is a much cuter name.

It looks too close to a last name. It'd make a better nickname than a whole name.

Lana? Lane?
Dana isn't used very much. I know 2 men named Dana.

My old vet was named Dana Surge, but we just called him Dr. Dana. I've seen Lane as both a first name (man) and as a last name. Which is why I couldn't see Laney as a girl's first name.

This comment is odd to me because I've never met anyone with the last name Laney, but have met ~5 people (well, different families) with the last name Delaney ... which is why I'll never see it as more than a last name.

I love Delaney on a girl. I don't like Mackenzie at all.

Both are too trendy for my taste.

They are both last names. As first names, I've only seen them on girls.

I'm not a fan of MacKenzie. It's my niece's name, and she's usually called Kenzie, which I like better, but I still can't get that into it.

Delaney is a very interesting name to me, because it's not even remotely my usually style, but I love it!

I like Delaney (DELL-ah-nee) and Mackenzie without the extra capitalization :)
They're not names that would be my typical style, but I they're pretty!

Not my style but I kind of like the sound of Delaney pronounced DELL-uh-knee and ugh HATE Mackenzie and ALL it's horrible incarnations.

Of the two, I prefer Delaney. To be quite honest, though, I don't like either.

If you're looking for something not common, Mackenzie (in any form) is out. Personally, I think it sounds like a last name.

They're very trendy. I do like Mackenzie spelled like that, but I'm afraid it won't age well (and the same goes for Delaney).

Have you tried Nymbler (http://www.nymbler.com/)? You might get some good ideas there!

I liked Mackenzie (HATE the extra capital) when I was a child, but I'm not a big fan now. Apparently, it's popular now, too? =/

I don't like Delaney. It seems like a last name. Also, I have no idea what sex this name usually associated with, but I always picture a boy.

I don't like Mackenzie, but I like Delaney because of the nickname Lane/Laine. I would just use the name Laine over that though.

Delaney is a guilty pleasure for me...I'm mostly a "traditionalist" when it comes to names, but yet I've always liked Delaney.

Whereas MacKenzie and any of its variant spellings have always bothered me. I know it's been repeated so many times on this community so I do apologize for the rehash, but "mac" means "son of." So when someone names their daughter that, it essentially means "son of Kenneth." I understand that meanings and gender usage for names change over time, but I still can't get past that.

Besides, I spent the early years of my childhood in the 80's--all I can think of is Spuds MacKenzie!

Delaney is what those little cards are called that you have to fill out for every class on the first day of school with your name, address and crap on a 1X2" piece of oaktaglike paper so the teacher can take attendance. I hate those cards. So I'm not too keen on the name.

I severely dislike Mackenzie, and I agree with most of the above comments. Trendy and gross :\

You know, as long as its spelled correctly, I really don't have a problem with MacKenzie other than that it has been building in populariity for the last twenty years.

Now, Delaney I like. Problem is that its my nephew's middle name (family tradition on his dad's side) so I'll never be able to use it or anything. I think it works well on boys or girls...but as a first name I think it works better on girls (the boys in my family are Logan Delaney and John Delaney nn Lane, btw).

MacKenzie will always be a surname to me, as it is my grandma's maiden name. It's also fairly popular, so it doesn't fit your criteria.

I like Delaney. It's a guilty pleasure.

Delaney is cute.

MacKenzie is my last name (well McKenzie) and it's always annoyed me to use it as a first name.
