What do you think of the combination Emmeline Rosemary Ruth? And how do you all pronounce Emmeline?

Also, is the name Hermione too connected to Harry Potter to ever be used seriously as a name? I really like the combination Isabella Hermione, but I'm afraid that the association is too strong. :/

I wouldn't use Hermione as a first name, but I don't think it would be too terrible as a middle name.

I think it's nice but too long. Emmeline Ruth would be nice. I say Emma leen.

As a first name, it's too strong an association. It would be nice as a middle, especially if you really enjoy the books.

I would pronounce it Emma-line. I like your combination.

I do think Hermione is too connected to Harry Potter to be used right now.

I love Emmeline Rosemary Ruth! Great name. I pronounce Emmeline like 'EM-eh-leen' but I like 'EM-eh-line' as well. I don't like 'EM-eh-lyn.'

I think Hermione is a nice name. Speaking as a long-time Harry Potter fan, I would immediately think of Harry Potter if I heard the name Hermione, but I would get past it pretty quickly, as long as her last name wasn't Granger. ;) And if it's a middle name, I wouldn't worry about it at all. The only thing is that you would probably get people asking if (or even assuming that) she was named after the character, so if that would really bother you, it may be a problem.

I'm a huge HP fan, so I would think of it first, but I don't think everybody would. Especially as a middle name. I'm not a fan of Isabella (which I think is as closely associated with Twilight as Hermione is with HP), but Isabella Hermione sounds good together.

I like Emmeline Rosemary, but I'm not a fan of Ruth. I pronounce it emma-leen, but I don't mine emma-line, either.

I haven't heard of the name Hermoine outside of Harry Potter, so I would definitely associate it with the books/movies. I wouldn't consider myself a big HP fan, either (I mean, I enjoyed the movies, but I watched them once or twice each, and that was that).

As a middle name, though, I don't think the association is such a big deal. I wouldn't use it as a first name because I'm sure people would be obnoxious about how you named her after the Harry Potter character.

Emmeline Rosemary Ruth is great!!
i think if you use Hermoine as a first name it would definitely be too associated with Harry Potter, but i love it as a middle name! my favorite combo is Lily Hermione, and Isabella Hermione is great too!!

I pronounce it as emma-leen. I prefer just Emmaline Ruth, though.

Admittedly, I instantly think of Harry Potter when I see the name Hermione, but I really don't think you'd run into many problems with it as a middle name.

I feel like if you used the name Hermione as her first name it would stick out as the name of a character... but using a name like that as a middle name wouldn't cause any harm.

My niece Cate has a friend named Anna Hermione - Annie's mom is a big fan of the books and loved the name, and no one thinks twice of her middle name; they are not the focal point of a person's name most of the time anyways.

Hermione is too strongly associated with HP, yes.

I think it sounds gorgeous! I would say Emma-line.

Anyone who would tell you it isn't too strongly associated with HP to use is wrong. It is. And will be for quite a while. It might be okay for middle but everyone would assume you chose it because of Hermione Granger.

Dispense with Emmeline and go for Rosemary Ruth. It is infinitely nicer. I say Emma-leen.

Isabella Hermione is the ultimate named after mary-sues name. It's like walking around screaming TWILIGHTPOPULARTRENDNAME PLUS BUSHYHAIREDBUCKTOOTHEDHYPOCRITICALCHARACTER

Emmeline is nice. I pronounce it Emma-Leene.

Hermione is a great name... I love it, but I wouldn't use it as a first name due to the Harry Potter connection (I love HP but I first noticed the name Hermione from Shakespeare, not JK Rowling ;) ). As a middle name it wouldn't be as obvious though. And I think Isabella Hermione is really pretty.

I think Isabella and Hermione both have strong connections with Twilight and Harry Potter. People would probably ask "Did you name your daughter after Bella and Hermione?" At least, I would, but that's me.

I love Emmeline! I pronounce it EMM-uh-lyne.

Hermione is fine as a middle name.

I probably wouldn't guess how to pronounce Emmeline unless the person told me. The name is very pretty.

I think Hermione is fine as a middle name.

You'll have more to worry about from Isabella than from Hermione at the moment. A Twilight-Harry Potter combination is, well, explosive these days, especially if you'd call your girl Bella. Feminism arguments, abound!

That said, it's a pretty name. :)

I like Emmeline Rosemary Ruth, too, though it's quite the mouthful.

Agreed. I wouldn't worry so much about Hermione, since it's a middle name and you can always say you just like Shakespeare, but Isabella Hermione might be a bit too much, even though the combo is pretty.

Emmeline Rosemary Ruth, though a bit old-fashioned, sounds nice. You're naming the kid after someone?

Right now, I think it is pretty obvious, especially when you add Hermione. Maybe in a few years it won't be as blatant, because it won't be new (much like Hermione is; though people remember the character, they are used to the name by now), but right now, yes, I think the connection is close enough. People may not call the character Isabella in the books (I'm taking you word in that, since I couldn't quite stomach the book), but they know it's her name.

I love Emmaline Rosemary Ruth. So pretty! I'd pronounce it Emma-leen.

And I don't think if you use it as the middle name the association of Hermione to HP will be that big of a deal, anyways. And I love Isabella Hermione, too.
